Excellent product. 300w from both channels = 600w. Its nothing less than a mono in that case
Yeah but you'll need a Dual voice coil. It can be made into a powerful 2 channel amplifier. Not a monoblock.

Of course they are. Just don't expect to see them at regular dealerships.

320 W RMS x 2 actually.
But, efficiency and damping factor would be far lesser than Monos.

Buddy, I got 644 from Delhi for Rs.5,400 (Grey market). I believe 604 is just Rs.200 less than 644 in grey, moreover 604 has been discontinued officially by India JBL and replaced by 644.

Here's the quotes I got in Bangalore yesterday (with b&w) - JBL GTO1004 for 11.2K and Infinity Reference 475a (for 9K) .

Can't decide which one to pick - S/N ratios are the same - is there any difference in SQ ?

Hi Guys,

I have gone though this entire thread and it surely was very interesting. Now let me share my story and experience with purchasing equipment worth around 65k from an authorised JBL outlet in Mumbai. I believe I have shared this with Sam & B&T too.

I purchased my Swift in December 2005 and immediately decided to install my ICE from JBL. I visited the authorised JBL outlet at Bandra (West) (Opp Gaiety Galaxy theatre - I believe the store is now closed or relocated) and purchased the following:

Components : GTO 606Ce (02 pairs - for the front and rear doors)
12" Bass Tube : Infinity Ref 1200T
6X9s : GTO 937
4-channel amp : GTO 75.4
Monoblock : GTO 301.1

Since I purchased such expensive equipment from an authorised JBL outlet & obviously got them with bill and warranty, I decided to have the install done by them only so that there would be no issues what-so-ever and I would have peace of mind, or so I thought. But even after all the equipment, I was still not satisfied with the sound. I then decided to seek help from B&T and visited him to find out what the issue was and this was the feedback:

1. I had too many speakers in my car
2. The wiring was pathetic and of the cheapest quality (Please note that the install and wiring was done by an 'authorised' JBL outlet and I paid 4k for the wiring)
3. All 04 components were connected to 02 channels only. The other 02 were used for the 6X9s
4. No spacers or rings for the components. There were fitted directly in the door.
5. No damping. Nothing of the sort was mentioned by the JBL guys.
6. 4-channel amplifier gains were set to 'full'

All the above could have caused serious damage to my equipment as well as the electricals of the car.

I was later advised by B&T to visit a good installer at Bandra (W) itself. I had the rear components removed, changed the entire wiring which cost me another 8k and got the entire system fine tuned and it now sounds great!!! I will be now upgrading the speakers & sub and getting the damping done soon.

Now, after purchasing and getting an install done from a JBL store, how could an authorised outlet be so calious with their work and putting the reputation of JBL at stake? I sometimes wonder, what is the use of purchasing expensive equipment with a warranty when the installers of the 'authorised' outlet themselves are not trained for such installs which can lead to damage of expensive equipment.

You sure the 475a is for 9k with b/w ? I purchased mine in May for 13.2k with b/w!

@Epic-I completely agree to you that the JBL 'authorised' dealer should not have made such a blunder, but reality is that they being the authorized dealers are interested only in wholesale/distribution business and they don't care much about retail customers. Its always better to approach retail outlets as they are the ones who are used to doing installs everyday.

@DjNik, aren't the so called "Authorized Dealers" the actual "retailers / retail outlets"? I thought wholesale / distribution was handled by a "distributor", who doesn't talk to individual customers.
