Sunday is a good day!
It brings in lots of friends, food, laughs, happiness etc... Today was fabulous! The F1 race at Bahrain and a meet with some good Bhpian friends made it more and more exciting!
Ok, I hope that serves good enough as an excuse for not posting anything here for the whole day.
As I had already explained about the wiring scene, let's now move ahead.
Damping:
This section ain't that big to discuss about here. But let me explain what I have learnt from my experience.
The best and cost effective damping is to identify and mark all the necessary areas in a car which will require damping. How much and upto what extend it is required can be determined later.
As many of you already know, the Lancer (especially the very first generation sold in India) is a sturdy car built with and around some good grade metal. So thud or no thud, it doesn't cause too much of unwanted curr murrs here and there. So after some brainstorming and tongue wagging sections, we shortlisted the front doors, parcel tray area, undressing dash area, loose roof parts etc... as the prime locations to be damped. Boot was not included in this section of damping. Surprising?? Read on.....
Boot, afterall is a full strip job. It will be stripped off all carpets, mats etc... to body level first. Each and every uneven, loose, thin areas will be marked, welded and damped as necessary. Here, the spoiler is going to be a spoilsport! That is one area of concern and I hope it will handle and cope with all the 'low end booty shakes' we plan to plonk in.
I am not big fan of dynamat, but it will be used or something similar like fonomat, gel etc... with a mix of local raw materials will go in.
I'm sure the damping process will continue till the time of delivery. Zuhemi actually does a necessary/minimal damping job according to the car first and then fits all the equipment in. Then, as and where the necessity of more damping is required, he will keep adding to it until it reaches a good satisfactory point. This helps the customer save a lot of his hard earned money.
The damping is still under progress and I think it will be completed by tomorrow.
That's all in this update.
See ya all tomorrow with more!
