Basically its the lcd, power supply and cabinet which are car specific. rest all are commercially available at the rate. he is also offering centrafuse at a good price with free upgrade.
Unless you are getting them imported without extra cost its actually a good price. you also get good support. setting up is not a simple task unless you are expert in both fields.
Gurus i have a doubt, can i buy an old laptop and modify for Car PC,
If so what all is required other than Touch screen.
I have GPS Navigator, my only purpose is to play audio, video and browse internet on the go.

gigy we were thinking of getting the components from nehruplace and ordering the enclosures (doubledin and amp type) from the net. Will sourcing the powersupply be a problem ? And what about the LCD touchscreens, what brand would you recommend for starters.
From the stuff i have seen in local market till now i find the iride ones have better brightness, contrast and viewing angle.
Best is to go for one with indash kit if you are sourcing from outside. saves lot of trouble unless you have plans to mod the dashboard itself.
For powers supply get opus brand.

Aren't they quite expensive too ? |
no doubt, but its the only place where you get prompt support, warrnty etc
Count me in the list too. Ill post my carputer thread soon.
i have a small doubt.
the monitors which are on sale on the iride website look like they are china make or Taiwan made so i would like to know how reliable are these systems and whether warranty is available or repair services etc if the screen goes kaput.
The screens being sold on the iRide website are actually the monitors sold by a firm called Lilliput, You get warranty on the product and the products will be sent to the manufacturer for a reapir/replacement and you have to pay for the shipping.(Read this somewhere before i shipped my lilliput, Correct me if I'm wrong)
