I thought I will add a little more bass to my existing setup and narrowed down to alpine mpr-m500 monoblock to power my existing blaupunkt gt 12" basstube. Then I started reading up the ICE section. And got hooked. So I decided to read up a bit more. Spent more time on diyma. Got familiarized with things like THD, SN ratio, impedance, dvc et al and have now come to realize that my entire setup needs to be junked.
Here is my existing setup-
Sony HU
Sony xplod 4 channel amp
Crappy Sony coaxials at the back
Equally crappy sony speakers at front
Blaupunkt gt 12" basstube
Local wiring
No damping
Having said that, I want to upgrade in 2 phases (I am currently putting together a nice audio setup for my office and that is going to eat up most of my spare budget). After pondering over this for days, I have figured that I have 2 options available to me at the moment-
OPTION 1
Phase 1
Wuerth damping on front doors and boot (approx. 3000 Rs.)
Good quality wiring (Not sure)
Alpine or pioneer HU (need advice, budget 8-10,000 Rs)
Polk audio db6501 or infinity 6030cs comps for front (8,000 Rs.)
Alpine mrp-m500 monoblock (10,600 Rs.)
Retain the sony amp (to drive the front comps in bridged mode)
Retain the Blaupunkt basstube.
Remove/ disconnect the rear sony coaxials.
Phase 2
Replace the sony amp with alpine mrp-f300 (11,000 Rs.)
Replace the basstube with a better sub and enclosure (need advice, budget 10-12,000 Rs. for sub and enclosure)
Add decent rear fills (not sure if I need them at all, there are rarely any passengers in my car, especially in the rear seat, need advice on this)
OPTION 2
Phase 1
Wuerth damping on front doors and boot (approx. 3000 Rs.)
Good quality wiring (Not sure)
Alpine or pioneer HU (need advice, budget 8-10,000 Rs.)
Alpine pdx-5 5 channel amp (25,000 Rs.)
Polk audio db6501 or infinity 6030cs comps for front (8,000 Rs.)
Retain the basstube
Remove/ disconnect the rear sony coaxials.
Phase 2
Replace the basstube with a better sub and enclosure (need advice, budget 10-12,000 Rs. for sub and enclosure)
Add decent rear fills (again, not sure if I need them at all)
There is one thing in particular that I need some advice on-
Is it better to spend 14,000 Rs. on a set of components at the front being driven by a 4 channel amp (50wX4 at 4ohms) in bridged mode or should I have 2 comps (8,000 Rs.) and 2 decent co-axials (6,000 Rs.) each being driven by separate channel of the amp? My rear passenger seat is rarely occupied.
Out of these 2 options, what do you guys suggest?
Thanks for all the advice. |
