re: Stock OEM music systems and related opinions

I felt the 10 Speaker RCD 510 system sounded very well. There are 2 speakers on each doors with two tweeters. The Bass sounds very nice and does not jarr and the treble sounds ok..

I guess its upto individuals and the requirement. I currently have a Pioneer head and polk speakers both in front and rear(and tweeter) in my Swift and i find the Jetta speakers very efficient. But i guess its just me in love with the new buy

As per the Honda Service Center, it is from Alpine.

Re: Stock OEM music systems and related opinions

I believe the Skoda Fabia and the Polo have Blaupunkt HU's. Not sure about the Rapid or the Vento, although I wouldn't be surprised if they had the same.

I did hear some salesperson mention Bosch when talking about the Rapid although it wasn't clear if he was referring to the HU or some component on the dashboard. Does Bosch even make HU's?

VW Vento Highline - RCD 310

I read on some forums that OEM for RCD 310 is Bosch.

Likes:
+ Clear vocals and decent bass on Vento 2012 refresh (I expected usual bad quality stock speakers, but was surprised by the sound quality; the ICE on 2012 refresh Vento would work for most people except those that are extremely discerning or those that would want to add an amp and subwoofer)
+ Steering mounted controls
+ Good FM reception (no static)
+ Integration with reverse parking sensors

Dislikes:
- Bland display with white letters
- "TP" button useless in India
- No equalizer presets

Re: Stock OEM music systems and related opinions

The Ertiga ZDI/ZXI model comes with a pretty decent Nippon set up. There is a good integrated HU and 4 speakers plus 2 tweeters. The sound quality is pretty good though with the absence of vibration dampers in the doors a fair amount of resonance builds up thus jarring the sound effect.
The Opel Corsa used to come with a good Blaupunkt HU and 4 speakers.

Re: Stock OEM music systems and related opinions

The OEM integrated audio system on my 2012 Honda City is just about acceptable, i think it does not come with any sort of component speakers, they are all co-axial speakers, one in each door. The sound imaging doesn't just exist, the sound very clearly comes from the doors. Planning an upgrade soon.

Re: Stock OEM music systems and related opinions

The OEM head unit and the speakers in both the Linea and Punto nothing but crap. It has been written in the forum from ages, but I am adding it again.

Its only because of the Blue n Me I am keeping the head unit, else it would have been out of the car by this time.

Is there any interfaces available to map the Blue n Me to the after market head units?

No.

But the best compromise is to retain the steering mounted controls and go for a Bluetooth enabled HU.

However- let me also ask- why should you insist on changing the HU? Have you tried upgrading the rest of the package yet? Not satisfied with the results?

Re: Stock OEM music systems and related opinions

I have a stock built in system on my 2009 Maruti A Star VXi. I am not much of an audiophile and it has been serving well all these years with its average sound quality until now.
However lately perhaps due to lack of covered parking or direct exposure to sun the buttons are malfunctioning. If I press the radio button then it plays the cd. Or if I press aux then it plays the radio. And sometimes no buttons work or the system itself is unable to switch off.
There is also a lot of distortion from the radio.

What could be a solution? Do I have to replace the unit completely or will prevention of exposure to sun return it to normalcy?

I am a noob at ICE and would appreciate if something can be done about it.
Thank you

It has nothing to do with exposure to the sun. The main problem is loose connection and dirt.

Any competent car audio shop, or the A.S.S., should be able to remove the section containing the buttons and clean it thoroughly with IPA (iso-propyl alcohol). Ask them to tighten all screws and seat all wire connections properly before putting it back.

Re: Stock OEM music systems and related opinions

Gentlemen!

After getting my grubby paws on the new elite i20, I'm having a great time with the car.

The only area which is a sore disappointment is the OEM sound quality through the speakers.

Yes, I know, the official review says that the OEM system is impressive. But there really isn't that much bass. It's all treble.

And, that's my peeve. I do like a fair bit of depth and bass in my music.

There's no sense in listening to Fleetwood Mac if you can't feel Mick Fleetwood's drums!

So, can someone make a recommendation for a pair of speakers to improve the bass? The on-board equalizer really does not work.

I'm not looking to invest all my savings into the music system, so please do not suggest speakers that cost more than 20k in total

I'm a total numpty when it comes to car audio. So I've no idea what speakers the i20 comes with. I think there are components in the front. So pardonnez-moi, s'il vous plaît!
