The Aveo hatchback has the best ever position for front speakers
By the way boys. I ripped apart my Pioneer 6100F amp. And put it back together. And it still works. clap: It is a beauty. Solid construction. Sanken transistors. Very neat PCB layout. I took some pics on my mobile phone camera. I need to get a USB cable or dongle to connect to the computer. Then you guys can see it.
This is a forum full of mad-men. Honestly.
I must add, boys, dont try this at home.
why not Sam? if i were vivek i'd try and lay my hands on the schematic and then mod the damn thing.
Hey all the Audio Guru's in here.
I have a serious doubt which i felt only you people can solve.
I had gone thru almost the whole thread but cant find solution 2 my queries.
I have a Santro Zip Plus.
Have replaced my Sony HU to a Pioneer 6850 recently.
I also have Pioneer Tweeter, Sony Front Speaker (Stock size),
2 Sony Xplod 1200watts Woofer, Sony Rear Speaker 6x9"
2 Sony Xplod 504 Amp, each one runs 1 Rear Speaker, 1 Woofer & 1 Tweeter.
All of these installed in a custom tall design BoomBox (without holes) made specially 2 fit in Santro.
But somehow since few days i m not able 2 get the punch & thundering sound i used 2 get earlier, SO i change few wiring & also the HU.
I am using the sony items since almost 1year 6 months.
Query :
1. In 6850 few options i m not understanding like, HPF shud b set at wat HZ or shud be off, SUB W1, W2 shud b kept at wat HZ.
2. Also wat if i remove my Sony Items & go in for JBL one wat shud i choose.
3. Can i remove my BoomBox from behind & install a 12" JBL Base Tube, with JBL Amp & Rear Speaker.
4. If yes suggest me which models (with approx rates)
I hope you all shud clear my doubts.
Thanx in Advance
If it was for my Xing...
I would ( I had in fact) dump the tweeter and
Frnt :get a nice 4inch speaker : Image Dynamics CTX4 Coax, JBLGTO 426 @ 2.5k or Hertz or Boston or Soundsteam 4ich compos or even Blau
Rear : Dump Sony and get a JBL/Hertz/Pio/Blau 5.25inch co-ax speaker for the rear pods OR 6inch compos OR 6 inch coax or 6x9 or smaller on MDF
Amp: drive all my speaker of an amp: 504 to drive frnt + rear
OR, drive front + Sub
Or get a PA275,300.1,60.2,502, etc just for the sub.
check

and

Thers also a whole Blau setup santro hiding in some ICE thread.
and yes ofcourse, good wiring. Audison would be my choice as they have wide range.
In my car, HPF is set to 125Hz in the HU. Front speaker fed by amp is set with no filter (Filter OFF) and Compos at rear fed by amp with HF Filter on.
And whats your budget:D

Navin always has the right ideas. And it looked like the amp could use better filter caps.
Vivek,
I know it is nice to have a fellow DIYer here but you have to rememeber that my thinking is seriously marred by copius ammounts of chemicals I took when I was stupid and young. Now I am just stupid and old. :-)
Is there room for better filter caps? I'd use atleast 4700uf/63V per channel and maybe a 2uf/100V polyester bypass.

Bridge 504 into 2 channels.
Take Sub out from HU and connect to Bridged 504 and then connect THIS 504 to 2 Sony XPLOD Subs.
Remove Pio tweeters or add a 10 ohm series resistor to the Pio tweeters.
Take Front out from HU and connect to 2 ch. of the second 504 and Pio TS20 tweeter (with 10 ohm resistor in series) in parallel.
Take Rear out of HU and connect to 2 ch. of Sony 6x9 speakers in rear.

3. Install the FX93 on a MDF rear deck
4. Get Boston 4" in the front and disengage the Coax's tweeter use the boston tweeter mounted on the loutside rear window pods or dash instead.
5. power Pio 6891 woofers with the Sony 502
6. Power Boston speakers with Alpine 240.
7. add HU as and when your budget permits. |
What sort of a sound can I expect if I go in for the above DIY? All that would have been overkill but Navin has suggested disabling specific parts of speakers so sound will be balanced out and not too shiny.
If I had some money to spend (8-9k) could you suggest some
*front comp/co-axial
*sub/box
*wiring/connectors/terminals (amp/speaker/rf)
Thing is my dad will never see the need to spend the money for more ICE, not sure how I can go about this... if nothing else I will take up Navins suggestion(quite sure it will produce a decent sound) and attempt a DIY with other forum members help.
Thanks.
p.s : I hear Sam dishing out discounts for us TEAM-Bhpians ;)
