1. Is that a ANHC or NHC? Just curious. My mom's NHC came with an Alpine, the ANHC comes with a OEM HU that is not an Alpine. In fact it does even have a CD as standard fitment.

2. If you are happy with your front speakers then adding a subwoofer and amp can be done. Just we aware that...
a. you might need a speaker level to live level adapter for the amp
b. to control the subwoofer level you need an amp that has a remote subwoofer level control.
c. you could add a "bass blocker" for your front speakers once you have a sub. It will help your front speakers perfrom better as they will have less stress.

I am looking to put a 2 DIN DVD/GPS unit in my new Civic. Which are the models available? I would also like to integrate reverse camera in to the same screen along with Bluetooth facility. Do I get the Civic DD Fascia in India now?

Hi,

I am not too much of an ICE Junkie, I am happy with basic things for music and phone & GPS.
This is my first post in the ICE Forum

First - here is what I have :
1. I have a Scorpio 2003 with Factory Fitted Kenwood System, with Only Cassette, No CD, No USB, No Aux in.
2. I added a Kenwood 10 CD Changer when I bought the car in 2003.
3. Later I changed all 4 Small Factory Fitted Speakers to 4 JBLs of the same size.
The Sound Quality is nothing to write home about.
4. Now I have an Iphone 3G. All my music is played through this. I have a Stereo Pin Audio Out to Cassette Adapter (Much better than those FM Transmitters). And now this becomes a perfect Car Phone. The 4 Speakers give the Phone Audio, and the inbuilt mic of the Iphone is strong enough so that even the people sitting on the back seat can converse. The Music plays from the Iphone and whenever a call comes the music fades away and I recieve the call. When the phone disconnects the music fades in. I also use the Iphone 3G as My GPS Device with a voice assist GPS Software called XGPS for the Iphone. All Voice Assist Commands come through on the speakers as well. I have installed Google maps with all 11 Zoom Levels for all of North India in my Iphone.

Now my Queries :
1 . I want to upgrade to a music system which has 3 basic features.
1. USB in in the Front Panel.
2. Aux-in in the front panel.
3. FM with Memory.
I do not need CD/DVD/Cassete.

2. I want a LCD screen. I have a Iphone Audio Video Cable which can play video perfectly. I will modify the 3 RCA jacks so that the 2 Audio go into the Music System, and the Video goes into the display.

3. I want to upgrade my speakers.
My constraint is that I cannot give up on space. I use my Scorpio 8 Seater (3 Rows, with third row Removable/Foldable) to carry a lot of luggage. I cannot fit a box at the back. I will compromise with the best speakers that can fit into the Original place just above the door at the back and on the sides in the front. At max I am willing to install the speakers in the Rear door.

I need any good recommendations for all three things mentioned above.

Thanks.
Styler

For about 7-8K you can get a Alpine, Kenwood or Pioneer HU that has both a USB and a AUX in like this one.
Alpine CDE-100 CD receiver at Crutchfield.com

For about 3-4K you can get a Necvox 5" head rest screen. Flip down screens (7") are a bit more.

For speakers I would suggest 4 6" speakers in the 4 doors and a single 8-10" subwoofer in the rear door. Just find a good installer for this as a bad job can make the rear door look terrible and rattle and buzzes will interfere with the music. You can even retain the existing JBLs and just add the subwoofer for now.

I would consider a 10" subwoofer. Todays car-subs can fit into rather small boxes. Normally a monoblock amp is prefered but if you are on a budget the Sony 2 ch. can be bridged and used.

ICE & prICE Help for Swift VDi!!!!!

Well, This is my First Post on Team-BHP, I'm Arvind M B a.k.a Maveric. Its been nearly 2 years since i've been going through this forum but decided to take the plunge into being a member just a week back. Well, I dont want this to become an intro thread, let me get into what I intended to post.

I booked my Second Car - A Pearl White Maruti Suzuki Swift VDi on December 19, 2009. Due to delays from both sides, I'm finally getting the delivery of my baby this week

Since I'm still a student and i'm on a limited budget, I decided to install ICE in a phased manner. I drew up a list of my initial requirements and contacted one of my friend who has the same car. He took me to a shop in Jayanagar 4th T Block (Bangalore) called Final Tune. The Shopkeeper has given me an estimate of the prices and has suggested the following according to my budget.

I would be grateful if someone could help me out in this regard by way of suggesting a better product in lieu of the following or a better place in case he's over charging me. I'm still a semi-noob, hoping to grow!

(Table Here)

I Enquired about the new Pioneer 2010 Model of 3290, but he said its not in the market yet. I would use the head unit mainly with my iPod. I had seen the Ad for the 3290 Model which has iPod Support whereas the 3190 model does not have it.

Also he said that Sony Xplod speakers would cost Rs. 1500 less. Which should i choose? JBL or Sony since i'll not be installing a Sub-woofer and Amplifier for the time being.

Also is there anything else I need to be installing for now? My total budget is anywhere between Rs. 20,000 to Rs. 25,000.

Hoping for your help BHPians.

Thanks

The Ford Ikon stock player finally conked off. I am looking for a bare bones FM radio player as a replacement. I am not looking at the cheap Chinese HUs. Whats the cheapest one available from the know brands like JVC, panasonic etc. I already have Pioneer 6X9s behind.

Hi Navin,

Would the Subwoofer in the Rear door require an Amp ? Or can it just be connected to the HU

Do give us model numbers.
Rs. 1200 for a speaker plank is a lot and Rs. 650 for what wiring. you are not adding any amplifier and will need no RCA wiring and for a basic system teh speaker wires provided by JBL (for free) are adequate.

Pioneer 3190 - 6500
JBL GT5 6x9 S396 and 6" S265 coax - Rs. 7000
Sony 604 amp - Rs. 5000
RCA wires - Rs. 2000
MDF tray and install labour - Rs. 1000
------------------------------
Rs. 21,500

For 1k (Rs 6000) more you can get a better amp like the Kenwood 6403, JBL 604 or Pioneer 4300 amp.

Alterante speakers to listen to would be Alpine's SPS series for example Alpine SPS 69C and 17C coax (this combo should cost you Rs. 7000).

You'd need an amp. I have yet to come across a HU that can drive a subwoofer directly.
