What would be the difference between Alpine CDA-105 and CDA-117?.

Both have USB (which is of great importance to me) and both require
the PXA-H100 and KTX-H100 for imprint and sound tuning.

CDA-105 has 2v pre-outs and CDA-117 has 4v pre-outs but when we
add the PXA-H100 it anyway has 4v preouts.

So if I were to add CDA-105 with PXA-H100 will it be equivalent or
better when compared to CDA-117 (with or without PXA-H100)?.

I will not go for an active setup if that would make a difference.

Lastly between the
Kenwood X9006 (x991),
Kenwood XBT8013U (x993),
Alpine CDA-105 (with PXA-H100 and KTX-H100),
Alpine CDA-117.

which one should give me the best bang for the buck.
(The main features that I am looking for are the
SQ and USB. Not much interested in other features.
Though I could manually tune (to some extent), I
would prefer Auto EQ kind of functionality).

Thank you for your help and time.

I think that the CDA-117 is having in built TA and does not need PXA-H100 for TA. The CDA-117 is a souped up 9886 which itself is good HU according to the various reviews I have read. The CDA 105 will necessarily need the PXA-H100 to achieve TA. The general consensus is that Alpine makes better sounding HU than Kenwood (I know Kenny fans would beg to differ here ). So among the choices CDA-117 would be the best and the CDA-105 would be the worst considering that it does not have built in TA. I think both the Kenwood HUs have TA as well.

Set Up:

HU JVC D/Din KWXC-404
Amp 8401
Front GT5-502(off amp)
Rear TS2150(off HU)
Sub Philips 10"(off amp obviously)

Have observed that when I start up the set up on a cold morning, the sub does not sound good enough, but all is well after say 15 minutes.

The car is parked all day and when the set up is started in the evening, all is well again.

what could be the issue?

If you can get the X9006 (x991) nothing like it.
Its way above in features of all the things you've listed

Guys, my friends want to install a HU with Mp3, USB and Aux-In and we're looking for Kenwood. The most inexpensive of the lot will do the job for him and it'll be simple HU and 4 speakers, with no plans of getting an Amp+Sub setup.

Please suggest something in Kenwood (or Pioneer, though we're tilted towards the former) along with prices, if possible.

Thanks

I could not get either the X9006U (x993) or the XBT8013U (x993) but
getting the x693 (same as the one you have got).

Might need some help during tuning, mind posting questions in your
thread then (as it is the same HU)?.

Thank you.

Thanked: Once
Infinity 9633i or Hertz ECX690

Dear All,
My Existing ICE setup is
HU - Sony
Front - JBL 608c Comp
Rear - Pioneer 6x9 Co-axials
I am about to replace my old rear co-axials as the woofer paper in one of them is cut and there is lot of distortion.
The following i have shortlisted:
Infinity 9633i
Hertz ECX690
I am planning to add an amp and sub later, I listen to a variety of music from Ghazals to Hard Rock.
Could you suggest me which one should I go for?

@tsk13 try the Kenwood KDC-MP543U. The HU plays USB, Mp3, and have Aux-in, and the sounds good. I have this HU mated with Pio TS-G1640R and kenny KFC-M6942A, and the set up is real VFM and for the pric eyou pay, sound quality is very good.

What happened to XBT8013U (x993), i believe this is the latest model. Is it expensive or not available.

I am also planning to source my ICE components from singapore. How is the price difference between India and singapore.

Can you share from which shop you will be getting the ICE in Singapore.

My relative was not able to find the XBT8013U available even in Kenwood
authorized store in Singapore. I wanted him to either get the X9006U or
the XBT8013U but he said he called up a few stores and none of them
carried either of them. The X7013U was also not in stock when he went to
buy and he had to go again after a couple of days to buy it.

As far as the rates are concerned, I dont think they are any cheaper than
what you could get for in India.

He got me the quotes for the following headunits:
Kenwood X7013U - Rs 12,200
Alpine 9886 - Rs 20,000
Clarion DXZ786USB - Rs 18,000 (same as DXZ785USB)

People have bought the Alpine 9886 and Clarion 785 for much lesser
price (either directly in India or brought from US)

Our fellow team-bhpians have brought the X7013U in India for about
~ 12,700.

Though the Clarion DXZ786USB would have been a little better option
than the X7013U (since X7013U cant go active), I still went with
the X7013U as it was more VFM when compared to the cost of DXZ786USB in Singapore.

I dont know from which shop he bought the HU. He mentioned it was a
Kenwood authorized store.

BTW the X7013U (x693) and XBT8013U (x993) are 2009 line up models.
The X7013U is the same as the XBT8013U except that it does not have
bluetooth built-in. Except that everything else is the same.

Hi all. I am intending to purchase Clarion FZ709E HU for my Palio. Can anyone who has already used Clarion brand or knows the brand pretty well suggest if it is a good one. It is retailing for $230-$250. TQ

And here's the link for the product page so that one can advice me after going through the specs. ( I don't know much about the technical stuff)

Clarion UK | FZ709E
