Dont know yet Doc... the cheapest I have been able to find with some rudimentary surfing is 269 (BRITISH POUNDS) - from Car Audio Direct MRP apparently is 399.

9851 n 9853 are impossible cuz the RS comes with the 9833 i guess. Thats also difficult cuz the RS sales are pretty low anyway i'll try to arrange one

For the rest...9823 or sumtin ladat is available. Lemme see if i can arrange arnd 5 for the next TBHP meet so that everyone goes ALPINE

9847 is VFM for me and next is 9853 and then 9855.9851 for me is just waste of few bucks extra than 9847 with slightly bigger display and remote.

I need the display. the 9833 display is so much better than the 9830.
I thought the RS came with the 9830. Atleast mine did.

Also the 9830 being discontinued. I figured they might have got in the 9851 or 9853 instead.

navin i think u need bigger display for i-pod,then u should go for 2006 alpine series as these HU have bigger display and interface with i-pod is faster as against previous models and r much cheaper.

yup but they are expensive. my 9833 is quite adequate. the 9857 is far better though.

Now that we are talking of Alpine's, I am getting an option to get the 9856 from the USA. What are the downsides of buying an Alpine from USA except for getting warranty issues settled? The slurpy side is the price!!!

Alpine 9856

How good is the 9856 in quality of sound output? Does anyone use this HU?

The 9856 is very good. I prefer the 9857 though but it is twice the cost of the 56.

BTW JK/KB I dont mind trading in my 9830+a few Ks for a 9833. So if that helps let me know. But I'd have to get the 9833 first. my wife will kill me if i leave her without a stereo.

I couldn't figure out one thing about the 9856. It says "Remote Ready" but does not show any remote as an accessory or as a standard package. Does Alpine have remotes that we can choose from? Does Alpine manufacture steering remotes?

Navin, Any advantages that you see of the 9857 over the 9856?
