Remote ready means that it supports the steering mounted audio controls, you will need to buy an adaptor to connect it though..

9856/9857 sold in US dont support European FM tuning step. Also the 9856 doesnt have a contrast control and the display looked pale when I saw it on bestbuy. I chose cda-9851 instead.

If you dont care about FM and display, its a nice head unit for the money.Read the reviews at crutchfield.com

Alpine 9856

How good is the 9856 in quality of sound output? Does anyone use this HU?

The EU models are 9856R and 9857R. there is a big difference inthe display of the EU 9856R and US 9856.

MY HU is now very secure. I gave it for service.

Seems Pioneer DVH P5850 MP is a in dash dvd unit (16K if I remember right; any reviews?)

I was quoted 4800Rs for Pio 2850 and 9800 for PIO 6850.

The Alpine 9830 at 14800 ! I guess once one starts bargaining the price would drop by 500 or so.

Its just that I will jump at any frnt install for a SAntro if I see one. I desperately want to get my compo to the frnt somehow

a 2 way simpler to install in a Getz/Santro. Nothing is impossible though.

What about creating custom pods (read spacer rings with stiffened panels) after removing the front door map pockets? The tweeter can go on the dash. Should be simple to fabricate.

the tweeter can go in the A pillars too. in fact in the getz the A pillars are so wide one can even shorhorn a dome midrange into it.

Nopes! Its all theory. but I guess someone like Gunbir or Venu might be able to help with the feasibility. Acc to me, stiffening/cutting should be the tough part. After that, its like any car with front speaker mounts.
