That's a great news to hear. In fact the 2.5 normal HDD was my only fear about the reliability of a carputer. But then if SDDs are getting cheaper, I think can start collecting my carputer parts. Meanwhile, frank !!! Your install is really a Hi-fi one. The ASUS sonar itself is a stunner. Waiting to see it all in place !!! Best of luck friend

Thank you so much man! I haven't yet chosen the display card. I am going in for something with an onboard graphics chip, so nothing elaborate. But yes, 1080p compatible, and also compatible with all the number crunching involved in sound processing

I would want an SSD, but I will be storing lots of stuff. So a 1TB drive is anyways required. WIll think of SSD after 6 months.

Thanks mate. The Xonar got me into a little trouble at home since I had to pay duty over it. LOL. but all that will be worth it when I hear the first note playing from the carputer

Guys, some more stuff has turned up at my doorstep.
The OBD II Scanner and the keyboard + mouse are here.
The keyboard and mouse are pretty SEXY, and the reason why I haven't taken detailed photos of the same is because Streetaddict has taken some good photos of the unit. It looks MUCH better in person though.
Here's Streetaddict's photos.

I have also put a few photos of the data from the OBD scanner on my laptop

How much did you pay for the OBD, if you're alright sharing ?

And from the pics, it seems that the OBD might cause a hindrance while driving. Are you gonna relocate the OBD port or live with it ?

Hi Frank,
Your DIY's and research for raw materials makes me really think are you doc for humans or computers! Keep it up. Once you finish off make a simple step by step notes for all of us here so that we can too have those sexy units in short span in our cars as well.

I have paid about 2.5 k for the OBD if I am not wrong mate.
Yes, the scanner is a hindrance and not safe. Need an OBD to OBD cable. Soon.

Cheers mate. Will post a list of prices, components and where I sourced them from, very soon. Let me compile my own list first

Centrafuse OBD is very very limiting, you may want to try out ProScan. I am using it and found it very helpful.

Not really, I use it with a generic ELM327 OBD.

ok, I get it, they don't sell the software only now. Which they used to do earlier. I guess they were getting flooded with support calls from people who bought their software (but not the hardware) and then hit with all kind of issues.

There is a good sale today with $50 off, so you get the USB software and the tool for only $120, which is close to what I had paid for only the software earlier, so go for it. You can even go for the wireless version considering the OBD location in your car.

Frankly speaking it's really a dumb place to put an OBD connector in ford, you can really not do any analysis while driving the car! However it should be easy to take the whole thing off and relocate it somewhere close by, where it would not hinder while driving.

Recent developments huh!
I am trying to get hold of the older version. Will tell you if it works. Any alternatives?
About the connector, looks like I will have to order an OBD to OBD male to male cable, since removing the connector from there might alarm the Ford people and void the warranty

Yes, it does. And quite accurately at that, though FE is more about the driving conditions/style so you need to take it with a pinch of salt.

Guys, sorry for not updating this thread due to poor internet connectivity. Equipment has been coming in slowly.
The DVB T tuner has come, and so has the hard drive. AFAIK, the LCD is on it's way too.
The reversing camera has been ordered too.

Here's a couple of photos.
