Re: VW Polo - White - 1.6 Petrol - ICE @ 4S & A 2 Z Audio !

Kenwood X7016
Seems to be an option to consider.
How is the SQ ?
Price is excellent - almost free.
Now the quality;
Is it up to Alpine level ?Please do advise..
Or should I go for the Alpine ?

I've not used the 7016, but in other Kenwood models, time alignment doesn't quite work the same way as in Alpines, Pioneers, and Eclipse heads. And I didn't suggest the 9887 or P80 since they dont have USB inputs.

Bhagwan, you should consider the Pioneer P99-RS seriously.

Do you want 'partial TA' or full TA.? Partial TA the 7016 is excelletn VFM but the TA is not as "complete" as an Imprint (PXA H100).

I think the Imprint is still the most VFM completely configurable TA you can get.

Sir,

I do not like the 'tone' of Pioneer HU's
The SQ is not up to spec for me...

@ Navin
I need 100 % sq.
No Compromise here.

If the Kenwood can give to me what the Alpine does @ a lower price - yes I will change.
However I cannot change for cost alone. I have spent too much on the ICE to let the entire effort go to vain without the 'correct' HU !

Bhagwan,

Why not try a 7016 or 8016. Their SQ is good but they have a different TA. Difficult to describe over the internet. Just try them as see if their settings work for you.

I know you were not happy with the controls of the 9887. It drove me nuts too. Come to think of it even the ipod controls of the 9835 are terrible but the 9835 is almost a vintage unit by todays ipod standards.

Q: what is your source? CD? Lossless on a Hard disk player?

In the Car my source is CD - mostly.
Can shift to a pen drive if I get a HU with it.
@ Home 100 % Computer - my 5K CD's are never used.
I do not have a CD Player...

Navin, can you elaborate a bit on the 'partial TA'. With a 7016, one can set independent delays for the front right, front left, rear right, rear left and the sub. Is anything more required to get a soundstage centered around the listening position?

Setting independent delays for the mid and the tweeter on any side is not possible because the HU is not active capable. It's a 13K HU and it would be unfair to compare its capabilities with higher end Alpines or Eclipses that are active capable.

Here is a pic of the TA screen of a X994. Its non-BT India model is the 7016. BT model is the 8016.

@ Gilead
Can I ask what car this is ?
Do you drive ?
What I mean - is this self driven ?
Why are the left & right distances equal ?
That is not possible - no one can drive the car in the 'centre'
If the car is RHD then the front right needs to be 'delayed the most.
The speaker closest to the listener is to be delayed the most - imho.

Re: VW Polo - White - 1.6 Petrol - ICE @ 4S & A 2 Z Audio !

@BHAGWAN that is not my HU or my car. The pic was taken from this thread. http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/sound-...wift-ddis.html The TA had been incorrectly set by the installer and it was corrected later.

In my car, only the front right is delayed. No delay on any other channel. I drive a Fiesta and it is self driven.

Re: VW Polo - White - 1.6 Petrol - ICE @ 4S & A 2 Z Audio !

Just select 'Front R' in the screen above and set the delay as per your liking. Leave everything else at 0. This will center the image exactly in front of the driver.

In some cars or setups, the sub may need to be delayed slightly to achieve maximum constructive interference at the listening position. There was no need of that in mine.
