I think, the first thing they have created is the cabinate. Later they have created the remaining body. And somehow they have adjusted the body and cabinate together.

for a tag of Rs.1.65L it is pretty good. as long as its comfortable to be in (comfort plays a major role considering the time spent in it well be easily thrice+ the average amount of time spent in a car) and the engine does not make a racket it really is OK. but will it meet 27kmpl as stated?

Design of Gio

Many people in this thread asked who designed Gio..
According to this news paper report in Business Standard Mahindra's Gio logic
Quote:
The Gio, thus, has a distinct style, developed in-house by the company along with design consultant Thairung.
Mahindra needed an external consultant to come up with this design. Is Thairung is the consultant for the so called World SUV?

Food for thought:

You know how much of a hindrance these miniatures pose to fast traffic -- the lifeline of the Nation -- not to mention the noise pollution and air pollution.

When do we as a Nation review the law

which says what may be registered as a motor vehicle for our roads and highways and expressways and what may not?

Only meaning: Where do we draw the line?

Now that it has 4 wheels will they permit this 9 bhp rattler on the expressway ?

Will we need a separate lane to protect miniatures from real vehicles?

Ram,believe me mahindra has heard you for sure, saw in a news yesterday that mahindra are working on auto rickshaws with CNG fuel variant after their launch of GIO and would be out by 2010,may be your design might be helpful to them.

I would call Renault people real tough guys, they didnt allow M & M to modify Logan product
M&M blames Renault for Logan-jam - dnaindia.com

Imagine Logan with M & M Grill

Jeep people would suicide if they see this mockery of their grill

Spare us the horror! The ugly twins are enough to haunt us!

I managed to take a good look at the Gio at Performance Show at Mumbai. It is pretty good for 1.65L.
The Gio is bare basic. Pretty good for those cement shop guys.

I jokingly told the Mahindra guy " isko andar Lamborghini ke baaju mein rakho"
[Keep it beside the Lamborghini]

He replied "isko andar rakha to log sirf isko dekhenge" [If I'll keep this beside the Lamborghini, they'll watch this only!]

This news article says India's Mahindra Gio Is the Nano of Trucks

The comparison is apt actually looking at the size and the fuel efficiency of GIO. The comparison is also apt in terms of the number of wheels. Both have four wheels

On a serious note, It is just another three wheel rickshaw on four wheels. But it has been positioned rightly as the convenient goods transport vehicle for quick intra-city operations.

I didn't know KOHLER made engines as well, of course it's better known as a sanitary ware manufacturer.

Btw, are there any manufacture left in the world who's not partnered with Mahindra ?

and see this
"Kohler Engines manufactures small engines for riding lawn mowers, garden tractors, walk-behind lawn mowers, concrete construction equipment, outdoor power equipment, welders, pressure washers and other products ...."

Yes, lawn movers give good average.

Today i happened to see the GIO in person, i was surprised to see the weird gear positioning. I had somehow missed that in the pictures. I guess the Neutral was in between the 1st and 2nd gears. The gear pattern was somehow totally different from what we are used to. Or i am wrong?

Where are the design brains that created the original Scorpio? Infact even 1/4th of that brain would have been sufficient!
The design brains that created the scorpio are from Fords Visteon team. this is what i heard when it was launched.
