Only the key is after market, if you read through the thread, the transponder chip which interacts with the immobilizer is moved to the new key. So, unless you have the original key, there is no easy way to duplicate the transponder chip. In short, the immobilizer is not fooled s the original chip is still in use.

Re: DIY: Flippy Key

Can this be done for Fiat Palio Stile?

I found this on ebay, not sure if it will work with Palio.

Post a pic of your key here or visit www.flipkeys.in website has details for all those brands for which they have flip key shells.

Essentially, the flipkey shell should be able to accommodate 2 things precisely and that should require no workaround in any manner:

1. The remote Button circuit
2. The Transponder chip

Quoting what Parag had mentioned. As long as the buttons on the original key match the buttons on the flip key, it should be a go.

Other option, since you are going with a purchase on ebay, ask the seller if your model would match. That way, you will get the most accurate answer to your question.

Re: DIY: Flippy Key

Nice DIY Parag. I can't wait to do the same for my Figo.

I checked in Ebay and found 3 different key fobs for Ford cars. I am checking with Stylish Flipkeys and will order one fob once they confirm.

Looks good. Anybody tried/ordered?

Had ordered a black silicone cover for the first gen i20's flip key. It is slightly loose but stay in place does its job of protecting the key & buttons perfectly.
As you can see the actual key has worn out due to age:

Re: DIY: Flippy Key

Thats a nice DIY @paragsachania, thanks for sharing. I was trying to look for flip keys for my Swift Dzire 3 button remote, but alas couldn't find any as all flip keys for dzire come for 2 buttons only. Lets hope I can find one for my 3 button key.

regards,

Re: Flippy Keys

[quote=paragsachania;3469737]You really don't need to worry about hand filing at all. The filing may only be required to remove fine(Read sharp) edges formed as a result of key cutting but this will not damage the key whatsoever unless the whole key is made using a file!

Great DIY there and thanks for sharing. Did the same for my swift. Got the fob from E-bay for INR 900 and spent about INR 200 for the duplicate key. Just a word of caution though, the quality of the key blank that comes with the flippy key is suspect. In my case, I ended up with a broken key blade in the ignition while trying to tun on the ignition. Had to have a friend deliver the key at work, where I was stranded for a bit figuring out ways to remove the key blade out.

Nice DIY

Have been planning yo get this done for he spare ecosport key since only one key has the remote integrated. Am sure an original unit from ford would be expensive. Will try this soon. But will require he remote circuit as well in my case.

How come you didnt get the remote spare key? I reckon you drive the T model. Do check with the dealer.

Re: DIY: Flippy Key

On my car I have only manual central locking, can I do this to my Corolla? First need to install a remote central locking unit? and then do this DIY. But if in need to get a remote then probably will need to get a compatible flip key too.

I am sure many here would be in my position, thinking how to go about it, ideas please.

For the AT you get one remote flip key and one manual key. Want both to be remote keys for my outstation trips incase the battery runs out while outstation.

Re: DIY: Flippy Key

I just posted this in another VW thread, but saw this thread afterwards. Apparently, there are 'blank remote keys' available off amazon and other sites, for integrated remote keys for VW and so on.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00L6WVPIM?psc=1

Question: does anyone have any experience of getting such a remote key fitted within India, either with the dealer or outside?
