Did you see the LED lights mounted near the running board of the Brabus modified M class posted on this forum? You could try that too!

ahh.. you ve revealed my next experiment. i was thinking of posting it after i finish it. anyways, im on it now.

Think of how you will waterproof it though.
With no intentions to spoil your DIY plans, there is this string of LED lights with 5 round LEDs for one side (cluster of 4 LEDs in a round cap, size is a notch bigger than a 1 Rupee coin) that gives the same effect as on the above car!

It's a Type-R chinese brand, easily available and no problem with water proofing.

After seeing benny's blue cabin lighing DIY, i thought i ll add cabin lighting in the list of my DIYs too.

Components:
9 5mm White LEDs
3 82ohm 1/4watt resistors.
A small piece of plastic sheet.
Insulation tape

Tools:
soldering iron
Fevi kwik
etc

The cabin light unit with the center bulb removed:

I cut the plastic sheet such that it fits tight in the middle of the cabin light unit and put holes for the LEDs. The LEDs were placed and glued to their postion with fevikwik & more pieces of plastic.

The LED setup placed tight in the cabin light unit and taped:

Truly, what goes around comes around! You inspire me, and i inspire you.

I liked the arrangement you made for the cabin lights.

bbs, there you go. Nice one. I too have done the same for my Scorp. It really is cool!!
I also have changed my rear number plate lights to white LEDs in the same fashion. Looks SUPER!!

I liked your plastic sheet idea. However, LEDS and resistors tend to heat up. So might want to use a generic PCB instead of plastic sheet!

Do you read minds?. The existing underbody neon went kaput after 2 years of service. So, yes, i ve got some plans for the underbody. Got to go shopping for some cheap neons next weekend.

Hey, ankitahuja,
Here are the pics of the orange lights of my OHC. Sorry about the quality, took them with my iphone! For some strange reason the indicator needles have not come in the pic. However, the setup looks much more inviting than the pics show.

Tejas, thanks for posting the pictures. Any colour is a pleasant change than stock for the OHC.

When do we see the WIP pictures now? Did you manage to find the bulbs in any other colour?

BBS - I'm serious, if you could make a BRIGHT LED board for the OHC cabin light for me?

Got this wild idea about making a LED headlamp and i started off with a simple setup to check the effectiveness of white light from LEDs. This is my 1st step (or 0th step) towards the goal of making a full fleged LED headlamp. i ve started to study about various lenses, i guess i ll improvise the design(try to make round ones with hundreds of LEDs and get the light focussed with the help of projector lens) over the following steps.

Components:
30 5mm White LEDs
10 82ohm 1/4watt resistors
PCB (bread board type)
Araldite adhesive(epoxy)
Fevicol SH adhesive
Some pieces of wire.

Araldite applied and the LEDs arranged

30 LEDs were divided into groups of 3 with 1 resistor per group and soldered

After soldering, a thick coat of araldite was applied to make it waterproof and another coat of fevicol was applied.

Testing

Snaps taken from front of the scorp

The light inside the marked area is the light produced by the LEDs(no where near the power of headlamps, but still can be used as auxillary fog lamps with some improvisation).

And as i mentioned before, i bought some goodies(cheap blue neons and Philips rally 130/100 bulbs) this weekend.

BBS, fantastic one! Very professionally executed. Good job done.

I will have my hands dirty this weekend with some soldering & araldite!!
