Re: The Smartphone Photography Thread

The iPhone 15 Pro Max does take excellent photos. Great processor.
View from the Hotel Room in the Daytime and at Night time. Taken through the room window.
Even from a distance at night, the photos come out pretty well. Even the IKEA and Carrefour signs are clear when lit up as they are.
No wonder the iPhone becomes one’s all purpose machine.

Re: The Smartphone Photography Thread

Samsung S20 FE 5G does not have a macro lens. So I took close-up shots the unconventional way - get close to the subject and then use 3x optical zoom!

The camera software automatically applied the 'portrait mode/bokeh' effect.

The biggest problem with using zoom lens for closeup photography is 'shakiness'. You need to have a very firm hand, else the images look blurry. However, the camera app a few settings that can help. Enable:

- Scene optimizer (probably adds the bokeh effect)
- Shot suggestions (tells you exactly when to click the photo, since subject is shaky/blurry when seen through the display)
- Tracking auto-focus (image stabilization I think)

Re: The Smartphone Photography Thread

I love the " Studio Lighting" feature in Portrait Mode in iPhone 15 Promax.

It doles out fabulous pictures right out of the box.

A couple of samples. These are stock pics and taken in plenty of light condition.

I have quite an old Nokia 8.1 (completed 6 years last month), With a steady hand and the Gcam app, The Phone is still able to churn out some satisfactory / usable images

Re: The Smartphone Photography Thread

Went on a short morning trip to Lavasa. Gunning the Verna 1.5 DCT in Sport mode, up and down the ghat sections leading up to Lavasa was a revelation!
However, the town is more or less abandoned these days, and feels spooky to some (speaking to a guest who I chatted with during breakfast at the Ekaant Resort).
But lack of human habitation has perhaps preserved its overall natural beauty and climate. Because it was crisp, clear and cool in the morning even up to 930 am. Took some snaps with my new Samsung S24.
