Re: The Smartphone Photography Thread

I am a google guide and upload photos to Google Maps, I purchased the K20 Pro hoping to take good pics, however I am still a long way off from taking half decent pics.

Does a good Camera phone make a lot of difference to the outcome? My Friends own the Samsung Note 10, his pics are always so much better than mine, even when I use his phone.

Also, any good articles or courses on Udemy I can go through to improve?

I have been very pleased, apart from the shutter lag (less RAM). Excellent low-light too, and if the processing isn't to one's taste there are any number of apps that can provide RAW output.

In the days of film photography, different lines of Kodak / Fuji film likewise yielded their own unique outputs... and those were all considered fully acceptable, merely a question of taste (for those old enough to remember Ektachrome, or Superia, or what have you). Modern Fuji camera systems have modes that mimic some of those famous old films...

Same goes for lenses (anyone for Lomography?).

Apart from serious professionals, an expensive unit is not really required to achieve pleasing, well-composed, and technically decent photos...

Not denying that's nearly impossible with some phone-cams.

Re: The Smartphone Photography Thread

While DSLR’s are still definitely ahead, Smartphone pictures are plenty good for most of us. Here are some of the recent ones I’ve taken, first two are from the Galaxy S10, rest from the 12 Pro.

Re: The Smartphone Photography Thread

Good thread. Infact I had opted for iPhone Photography school’s training too. I am yet to complete it. But I think it was totally worth for $49 when it was at that price at the start of 2021. Many of the basic concepts for newbies like me are immensely helpful.

Couple of images taken from iPhone 7, around 2 years ago.
One was shot in Bhandardara, Maharashtra
The other one is a closeup shot of Diwali lights.

I was rather impressed by Macro mode on the OnePlus 7T.

Found this vibrant fella one morning:

Re: The Smartphone Photography Thread

Smartphone cameras have indeed come a long long way!
From noisy, artifact-y photos not so long ago as even 2014 to really high quality sharp, vibrant images, the journey has been amazing.
I have a few pics taken on my current and previous phones that I'd like to share.

These are some of the photos which were shot on Redmi Note 7 Pro. The camera does perform really well even with subtle lighting conditions.

Completely agree! The new iPhones are so brilliant and consistently churn out great pictures day and night. The X/XS range used to feel pretty lacklustre compared to the Pixel devices (for e.g.; the Pixel 2XL), but I am completely satisfied with the newer iterations (mine is 11 Pro).

Nice and bright!
