In the days of film photography, different lines of Kodak / Fuji film likewise yielded their own unique outputs... and those were all considered fully acceptable, merely a question of taste (for those old enough to remember Ektachrome, or Superia, or what have you). Modern Fuji camera systems have modes that mimic some of those famous old films... Same goes for lenses (anyone for Lomography?). Apart from serious professionals, an expensive unit is not really required to achieve pleasing, well-composed, and technically decent photos... Not denying that's nearly impossible with some phone-cams.  -Eric | |

| Re: The Smartphone Photography Thread Good thread. Infact I had opted for iPhone Photography school’s training too. I am yet to complete it. But I think it was totally worth for $49 when it was at that price at the start of 2021. Many of the basic concepts for newbies like me are immensely helpful. Couple of images taken from iPhone 7, around 2 years ago. One was shot in Bhandardara, Maharashtra The other one is a closeup shot of Diwali lights.   |

From noisy, artifact-y photos not so long ago as even 2014 to really high quality sharp, vibrant images, the journey has been amazing. I have a few pics taken on my current and previous phones that I'd like to share. Bekal fort. Pic taken as part of a cycling trip starting from Bhagamandala to Kasargod and back to Sullia.  Our Figo at the famous Shettihalli church ruins  The ruins of the school at Dhanushkodi  Rameshwaram island from Pamban bridge  Metal mesh  Gaganachukki falls at Shivanasamudra on a cloudy day. See the difference between the bright water and the dark rocks and foliage (open for full size). Shows how good HDR has gotten in Smartphones  Night shot during Diwali. The lamps were the only source of light in the room.  Leaves  One of my favorite photography subjects - food!  A model of HMS Prince and a Native american tribal figurine mounted on a piece of fossilized tree trunk  Sunset over Hampi  Stone chariot at the Vijaya Vittala temple at Hampi (a UNESCO World Heritage site)  Branches  Intricate carvings at Hampi  Stepped well at Hampi  A fly on a flower. Taken in macro mode  |
