I have 35mm 1.8. It is not the best lens for portraits. (because of perspective distortion)

If you are a Nikon user, 50 mm prime would be a better choice for portraits. It costs about the same (8k).

85 / 100mm prime would be even better, but those was quite expensive.

Example of distortion of face on various focal lenghts:

Thanks for the info, and yes, I am a Nikon user. Someone told me to get the 50 mm prime for another reason - for compatibility with full frame SLR's if and when I upgrade to one in the future.

Posting after a long time. A simple clip seen in a diffused afternoon light through the curtain.

^ In the first picture, the dark areas area due to insufficient lighting or coz you've played around with the shadow/ highlights?

The dark areas are due to the phenomenon of occlusion. Those are areas where the light is not reaching. Also the dark shadow on the left side of the face, accenting the cheek is from a shadow i created using a card. I haven't played around much with the shadows and highlights. Most of the post work was removal of small blemishes and imperfections from her face.

Thanks Samu! I used a diffused light as the key light and used a harsher one for the hair.

This shot is using a much harsher light as the keylight and another one for the hair again.

That's a Denza electric car, a JV between Daimler and BYD. I was there to visit BYD, coincidentally (but for some other purpose).
