Something is definitely wrong, I guess the PAAI guys may tell you. BTW, the light is pretty harsh, should have done some exposure compensation or gone completely manual.

I have done some PP on it, slightly increased the brightness using Levels, inreased contrast and saturation a bit using Curves and used Unsharp Mask for sharpening. Looks like I over-did things. Rudra Sir, your comments are needed.

You have gone real strong on Unsharp mask and contrast control.

Well the compression isn't even that agressive (its an 800+kb file), i guess the post processing is the issue as Rudra has mentioned...

Step 1. Used auto level. (ctrl/shift/L for PC/ apple/shift/L for Mac). This is however, not a must and won't work every time.

Step 2. Used curve tool (ctrl M for PC/ apple M for Mac). Pulled down the tone.

Step 3. Used selective colour tool (only green channel) to improve green.

Step 4. Used contrast tool (+2). Brightness is untouched.

Step 5. Duplicated layer. Added multiply... Cut opacity to 70%.

Step 6. Added layer mask. Used gradiant tool (foreground to transparent) from bottom to top.

Step 7. Used airbrush tool (pressure 10%) to bring back the lost details by wiping mask.

You can see the hills behind now. Greens look better. Sky has more depth.
But please remember, there are no fix process for improving images. Also, above steps are not only ways to follow.

Hey, I took the following pics on my recent trip to a remote place in Himachal recently ( details to follow in travelogues ).

the pics are taken from a similar angle but the difference was that one was taken in the evening and the next in the morning and I have no clue where the mist in the second pic came from as it ws a perfectly clear day ..lol !!! Rudra sir, maybe I'm turning into a pro as well ..hehe

I played a bit with PS and found the gradient tool, but coudn't figure out it's usage :-( Please suggest some good read on PS workflow.

A stunning coupla shots from my balcony, taken day before yesterday!!!

The thing that looks like a tornado is actually the shadow of a vertical cloud, you can also see the rain!!!!

@ Edmund; nice one. framing should have been better. too much zoom ruins a pic ( see you have those telephone lines in teh alst pic, lights from houses in first pic). I think if you had got a bit more of teh house silhouette it would haev been better. Whers the guru now, when we need a comment:D)

About the Nainital pic - its a lot harder to make it look good since the original has a definite haziness due to the weather...
