Do you see grains in my pic? Use lower ISO like 100 while shooting at night, no grains to worry about. In other words, always use tripod for nightshots. That's like free-flow for your camera.:)

Luv your pic Samurai sir

Thanks Navin, but it was no chance shot. Took me one hour of hard work, first 45 minutes were spent on experimenting on various settings, switching lenses, tripod repositionings and different composition. All the good snaps came in the last 15 minutes. You should crank up the ISO only for handheld nightshots, or else stick with ISO 100 and tripod.

Samurai , the tree in focus is simply exceptional and outstanding :Cheering:..
Hats off Monsieur !!! Patience pays off and thats seen in the pic.

Thanks RJ, then you might like a few variations too. I've posted this before at #431 on this same thread. Here is a link, it even has EXIF info.

Just a try, off my mobile cam. Will take a few more pics from the digi cam and then post it here. Tried editing this pic with Ulead photoimpact 12...err, I know its bad. But it's ok, I have to post it to get feedback. :)

Man, what do you expect here. Well, the inside of the room and the window itself is completely under exposed, the scene outside the window is well overexposed. You should try to get at least one of them correctly exposed in images like this where you have such variation in lighting (sunlit objects vs internal ambient light).

If you look at this image, the inside is properly exposed, and I don't worry about what's outside the window which is fully overexposed.

Busy with the business..

Well, Samurai thanks a lot for the feedback. And thanks for giving me a new perception to lighting. Anyways, here are the two pics I took of my P & S. Please let me know what I could have done better. And, the one where I have the coconut trees, how do I crop the buildings? Hmm, guess I should have been careful while taking the pic itself.

The first one can be recomposed, I made one attempt, I also made it little warmer, and added some shadows. I also moved the main tree off-center.

The second one I couldn't see any artistic merit, two dead bugs next to a deodorant can, may be Rudra can breath some life into it. But both pics are exposed quite well.

Although I have to say you caught on pretty fast about how to expose well. What kind of metering did you use? The most difficult to use is spot metering, if you can figure that out, you will become very comfortable in exposing the objects correctly.

Wow, that was nice and a different perspective. Uh..I have just started taking pictures and reading about various things like aperture, shutter speed and things. But havent yet practiced tweakin those on my camera. I bought a Canon Powershot A530 last saturday, so I need to explore the features. Metering, err, I don't know much about it and I need to figure out if my camera supports it. The tree pic was taken by setting the mode to Auto. Hmm, will take more pictures this week and try improving on the perspective and different angles. Ye, Two dead insects and also the background isn't clean enough. Need to work on them. Thanks once again Samurai. :)

lol: I noticed that only now.

Shot this off Nandi Hills early morning.Taken off the Auto mode no uummphh as such :) . There was a mild overcast and ended up with this.

My first post and ironically its nowhere related to automobiles....

well let me correct this a bit.....Here's one connected to automobiles

Here are two pics, one is the original and the other recomposed one. Do tell me if the recomposition was on the right track (I read about this method where you change the levels of light i.e, red, green and blue and I applied that here). Exif: F5.0 1/250sec. I used the Evaluative Metering. One thing I couldn't figure out was that a part of the top most flower is not shown as the sun's rays are directly on it. How do I get the complete flower? Any ideas, please let me know. Thanks in advance. :)
