Superb, nobody has captured this place better than this, I can tell you that. This is my favourite solitude spot since the 70s.

Hey, I recommended this tree for this snap.:) Reminded me of a solitary tree in an African bush country photograph.

It's from the view point - on the road between Darjeeling and Kalimpong before the bridge if i recall correctly. Interesting thing is the marked difference in colour between the two rivers.

Ajit, looking at the second pic above, I feel that the pic seems to lack focus because of the fore-ground and back-ground both being out of focus, and only a small part at the center being in focus [the middle section of the row of flowers].

Yeah, I noticed that too thanks for pointing it out. sadly did not notice it at the time of taking the picture. :confused: Still getting used to the camera and it's various modes.

Hope you don't insist on Conder only... :) What is the object of this photo? There are too many things in focus. Like the great nature photographer John Shaw says, pick only one subject and not many. If you want to show a flower, show one flower. If you show 2 flowers, your object must be to show a pair. If you are showing many flowers, your object must be to show a bouquet. Here you have many flowers spread all over, definitely not a bouquet. You have many leaves in focus too, so you can make a claim of showing the plant. But you also have leafs of other type hanging around... Work on your composition.

It has nothing to do with your camera controls, you just witnessed the effect of DOF (Depth of Field). There is no camera control to change this, except changing your aperture which changes many other things. It is up to the photographer to manipulate DOF and compose better. Yeah thats what I need. Am open to it and sure will work on what you said Samurai. Am learning the art now and hence criticisms/suggestions/opinions are most welcome.
