What is that container? Is that Pet bottle cut at the neck? Don't quite get it

Thanks Clevermax. It's actually... (check the next part)

Na, it's not cut. I overexposed that part (not in PP, but with light) so that the upper portion of the bottle is not seen at all. If you notice the strobist info, I was shooting with two flashes. The lower flash was used to illuminate the liquid part and the other flash was used to over-expose so that the bottle edge "disappears". Next level of this implementation would be something called dark field lighting, which will help me define the edges by placing a darker background just outside the frame.

Interesting composition . Would like to know what clevermax asked 'is the bottle cutat the neck'?

Did color correction of individual tones in Adobe Camera RAW - modified hue, luminance and saturation of warmer colors and blue.
then blended two pictures from camera RAW into PS - one for the sun and sky and one for the seawater with two different EV values.

Then did some color correction, applied HPF for the seawater, and then for the sun and nearby clouds. Darkened edges using lens vignetting. Enhanced sunlight reflection on the sea water a little bit. And yes, some NR on the darker areas of the sky, not affecting the brighter areas and sea.

Love it clevermax. Awesome work! Thanks a lot for explaining in such detail.

TG saar,
I second clevermax about you showing us a new color tone almost every time you post! This photograph reminds me of half life, I don't know why. And I love that game, and this photograph too.

@HW, mystery not revealed yet. Whats it? please:

Sorry about the late reply. I was out all day (7 am onwards) and just got back. The answer's at the top.

Hw, wow, I couldn't imagine that's a lighting trick when I saw that picture. Well done!! Now I know whom to ask when I have lighting related queries. :) OK one question now itself: Where did you place the flash to overexpose the top of the bottle with that much sharper gradient?

Here I am, sitting in front of the PC, basically stuck at home. I envy you guys who go out with their cameras for photo walks!

Clevermax,
I am so excited about these two flashes. They are cheap and well worth the amount (Got both for 2800 bucks) and give you very nice light. Actually, if you look closely, there's light wrapping around the edges, so it kinda gives away the trick that it's over exposed :D.

The first half of the day was not productive at all..infact, 3/4th of the day was not that great. I landed at lalbagh with another friend and then the luck changed, got some nice portraits and surprisingly everyone was in a good mood and gave us permission to shoot their younger ones :). I like the photograph that you posted (the bokeh rocks), you're already a lighting master!

And oh yeah, spent 2 hours at landmark, looking at various books by Henri Cartier Bresson, Steve McCurry and Ansel Adams. Sigh, the stories they tell you through those photographs, I am still high on them.

Good to know, its nice. Not sure how you maintained this spotless white background.

Good pic regarding colors, but composition is wanting. For example. I want to see polaris, but your pic looks a bit too tight. The light pollution(city over the hill) is distracting, and there is no anchor point in the pic.
I know dark sky photography is tough, since you cannot see what you are shooting, but a good way would be to take a test 30 second ISO 12800 exposure and see the surroundings,
Then recompose until you are satisfied and shoot.

That is exactly what I did. I don't know anything about polaris. I kind of liked the juxtapositioning of the cliffs and the seascape. Please share your idea of how the composition can be better by including polaris. I am yet to google it.

The image was shot with a 28mm f2 lens. I didn't yet understand how the image is tight. Elaborate please!

Thanks,
TG.

TG.

May be tsk meant a bit more wide angled shot..?

I was shooting her siblings when she was excited to see the results. I asked her if I can take a photograph of her and then came the beautiful smile. One of the best ever. I love her eyes!

Shot in extremely low light. I know that this photograph is not technically good, but that moment, those eyes made it up for every shortcoming :).

A pic from a recent trek in the Himalayas. This lamb was born just 5 mnts before the photo was clicked. Before the Shepherd could just lift the lamb and walk away with the herd I requested him if I could take some pics.

@Hw: Beautiful portrait
@deky: Precious moment captured there.

Guess the bhpian :D

Nothing in the image is showing blur and what lens did you use. 35mm ?

Gorgeous photograph, Riju!

Thats a lovely shot riju. Almost similar colour of the sky what we saw in pondy. Infact I would have loved to try something else, but moving the lens lower would get unwanted crowd in the image or moving sideways or back would get the sun straight into the cam, so finally I got an image without anything special in it.

I didnt get what you commented: you found no blur or everything is blur ? Its a 70mm f/4.5 at ISO 100, Aperture Priority. A 35mm would have got many people in the frame as the beach is crowded by daily joggers and walkers.

Here is another one: I waited almost 15 mts to get this guy without people in the frame. Luckily he sat that long.:)

Its a brilliant capture!

Nice, but I liked clevermax's PP'd version slightly more to my liking
