May be you can reduce the overall saturation in your display card properties to make it look better.

But some pictures in this page are a bit over saturated (unni's and HW's)

Guilty as charged :). The saturation was bumped up a bit and a warm tint was added.

This guy was some 40 mtrs above my head, one lady was singing songs (or 'mantras' ?) to bring him down, but he wouldnt budge !

These leaves were near the second peacock you were trying to shoot :). The close up looks a little blurry.

Ok, so now we move to Pondicherry. Here are some shots..

Not sure if they look over-saturated, they look pretty good on my system, let me know guys :).

Very nice capture there. That's an unusual scene I would say, interesting because we get to see a shadow and not a reflection!

Thanks and am glad that you like it jacs. Regarding the peacock photograph, a little post processing will bring out a lot of colour and details. Also, it's always advisable to shoot at eye level (atleast to begin with) and then break the rules once you understand them.

And here's one saying "Good morning Team BHP"...

Does it seem to dark to you guys? Seems a little dark on my office computer :/

Thanks for the directions HW. I dont know anything apart from a normal resize and crop. Moreover I use the regular MS Picture Manager (No PS!). May be its time for me to get hold of a digital photography guide and start trying my experiments.

BTW can i do all these on JPEG mode or i require shots in RAW format?

There are multiple plug-ins but UFRaw is best it works as standalone application as well for minor adjustments.

Yes it is there in windows but Linux version is better , On Ubuntu RAW plug-in was present by default in package and it opened canon CR2 files I do not remember installing UFRaw or any other plug-in.

I still use windows becuase most of the online tutorial are for Photoshop so first I try them in PS and then try the equivalent workflow in GIMP.
Once I am familiar fully with GIMP I will do away with PhotoShop and booting in Windows.

PhotoShop user interface is easier ( I have an old version 7.1) but who complains when GIMP provides everything for free. I have no plans to upgrade to CS4 or light-room and will use GIMP instead.
