First post from me on this thread, few pics from my weekend getaway.
Would love to hear what others have to say. I am new to SLRs/photography and would really appreciate your comments on these.
Playing with my new camera and Lightroom to get get a feel of the colors. The image sure loses a lot of "pop" going thru various cycles of compression! Even here the version you get by clicking is much better than the one shown on the page (compressed).
Here's a spidey! Just outside my house its about two inches in size.

a bunker made during the time of war by the locals.
Cu Chi, Vietnam
Another B&W.
This one is of this artist who sits in a tiny store and paints portraits of famous people 24/7-365
Hanoi, Vietnam

You mean sized to fit the 800x*** resolution limit in this page right.
JPEG compression is a different thing. Team-bhp server compresses (or re-encodes) the uploaded JPEG again to make a lighter file size for the same image size thereby reducing the image quality further. It is same as you opening a good quality image in PS and use 'Save As' option to save it with less quality. The result is that you can see jpeg compression artifacts on the image.

How much did you pay for Tamron 90mm Macro? and How do you like it? |
Its a fantastic lens for the money, I got it for 19k, you might find the rate between 17.5 to 19 depending on your location. Search flickr, you will find plenty of amazing shots through this in the respected group. Worth every penny.

Some nice shots coming from your camera! |
A word from you is a 1000 words to me !:thumbs up
For those who are looking for macro lenses, here is a 50% of the original taken handheld, it will be a 100% perfection in sharpness and focus if tried on a tripod. View it in full, its a 1:1 macro.

Nice shots Shaju. I think the color redention in Tamron is much better than my sigma 105 :). Gotta love it!

Nice shot shaju, why dont you shoot its face alone when you get a chance next time.
@Shajufx
You are welcome anytime. That being said, definitely you can compose much better too...try to fit in a story into the composition, that way the picture communicates something, rather than just look visually marvelous.
Regards,
TG.
Brilliant shots there TG!
Thanks guys.
TG those are classics from you !! Story telling part, yes now I understand that better, trying to learn each day.
One more macro from my side, its only to show the amazing potential with a macro lens, I dont consider any of these shots to be of any quality than some detail of the creature captured. This shot for example, I was wondering looking at the construction of its wings to the body. What a unique fitting there, which we never see through our normal view !!

Wow! Shaju, amazing detail on your new Macro snaps. Seems like you are enjoying every second with the new Tammy :)
TG,
Awesome stuff! I just wish there were no reflections on the window but heck, it's still an awesome composition. The second one is brilliant, perfect shot I would reckon :).
