@Samurai - Thanks for the pointer. I was shooting with an umbrella in one hand & the camera in the other. Also it is a P&S camera.
One doubt I have in taking close ups, can we use flash in conditions of low light? How would it affect the shot?
@shajufx - nice shot of the flower.

Did some tweaking and got these. |
These pictures look much better now! Post more Auto - HDRs :)
My first HDR attempt. I saw a video tutorial on Youtube and tried to follow it.
Please let me know how I can improve.
EDIT: A single RAW file was used.

Nutty Nair,(or naughty nair ?) you can use the same umbrella (if only inside is silver coated) to get a bounce flash effect on the less lighted areas while you shoot. :), but with a P&S, I doubt how a flash can be detached.
This is dedicated for you !:thumbs up

furioussphinx,
From what I've experienced, HDR works best for the outdoors, especially if its overcast. I would suggest you work towards a mild HDR (1/3 EV stops) initially. |
Yes, should try better outdoor shots. Looks like the rains are around the corner. Will try the 1/3 exposure next time.

@Proxima: It's a pseudo HDR right, because only one RAW file was used. BTW Nice composition!
Yes Clever, didn't know the term pseudo-HDR.
Another one from the same set.
Tried a pseudo HDR , apparently I cant figure out why the center part of the image is showing bright after using photomatix.

tried light painting a while back.
Hey furious, light signature looks cool, frankly how many attempts were done ?:)
I remember an article that came in the betterphotography mag couple of months back. I hope you have seen that !

That halo can be removed by layer masking in CS3. You can mask that part which is halo with the original image.
Here is one pseudo HDR.
