theMAG,
Nice. Shaju, Unni and I were there in the morning. You were there at the right time, for us the light had become a little too harsh at 9 am and I at times had to set the EV to -2 (the max I could go)!
|
HW,
Thanks. I went there by 530 pm - just as the sun was starting to dip across the horizon. The result: some interesting silhouette photos during the setting- but no usable pics later since the sun dropped with extra gravity!
Saw a couple crocs prowling around stealthily in the water but couldnt take any snaps in that lighting.
Here's the last of those silhouettes from that day:

I wouldn't be surprised if the response was YES I had polished it. The ole birdie sure has a wonderful eye for compositions.

Had an awesome day with Shaju, Unni and Shaju's guru Anil at Ranganathittu. Here's a shot of the red whiskered bulbul. Got this shot after a long wait and struggle :). Birding is addictive!!! :D Had to cut the tail as it was blocked by a branch :((. And I must admit, I am kinda impressed with the sigma 70-300 APO DG, but it's a bit soft at 300 :(. |
veeresh I used to have one of those lenses earlier and found it to be a good investment in the sub 15k range of tele's. Worth the money, however sold it off for a 70-300mm VR.

Riju,
Yep. Pretty good indeed, but if things go as planned I think I'd probably invest in a 100-400L IS or a 400mm f5.6 or a 300mm F4L. When I have the funds, I'll deal with that confusion :D.

Pawan,
The composition in the second photograph is just mind blowing. Love it man!
Ladies and Gentleman, presenting Unni, our model for the day. And I can't stay away from close ups, so the second photograph is that of a red dragon.
Dear Expert Photographers, I need your guide in taking different kind of photographs. yesterday night i learnt a new technique to expose 2 different subjects in one frame over lapping each other. i need your suggestion on this, in what kind of applications i can use this technique? its amazing to see 2 different subjects on one frame.
some more experments
The Charminar, Hyderabad
Thanks guys !
HW, I am posting my version of the same red dragon. :thumbs up

@HW: Did you soften the face in the portrait? Looks a bit too blurred at some places. The background is a bit distracting as well...
@HW: Nice Red dragonfly.
@Saju: That first landing photo is great.
I was searching Wiki after viewing you red dragonfly posts.
Found this one in Wiki

P.S.: How it automatically got uploaded to Team-BHP server? I posted the link deliberately stupid: Anyway, its the main page:
Dragonfly
Some change from the birds, before someone starts yelling "stop stop stop" !!
This is Dr.Venkat from AP, we became friends very soon, he swapped his 80-400 lens with my 70-300, fortunately we then spent only an hour more around the lake, unfortunately not a single shot came in focus from that lens, I had to do everything manual as my D60 didnt want to cooperate with a 80-400.:) Lessons learnt the hard way !!!
