@tsk: That's a very good camera. Assuming that it is an un-cropped picture, I don't like the aspect ratio provided by most of these P&Ss - four thirds system. It would be better if the aspect ratio is similar to that of an APS-C (3:2)

Yep, I agree about the composition. I didn't have control on that shot as someone else was framing it from the top and I just saw it and clicked :).

On a general note, Just wondering if the EXIF data helps? As in, unless we know the lighting conditions and the subject to lens distance (working distance) along with the lens used, I am not sure if I'd ever be able to use the data provided here. Also, PP makes a lot of difference (in terms of exposure and what we see here). I think EXIF helps us learners, when we are unable to get things right, so that the professionals here can look at the EXIF data and suggest improvements. Just my 2 cents (read blabbering).

Hmm, I remember there was one tool which could tell the subject to lens distance if you upload the picture and the focal length. Let me dig that up, may be then it will start making sense to me.

There was a time I too used to ask for EXIF, but now I know it doesn't help.:)

I was waiting for someone to bring it up, someone always does.:D I have intentionally included the trees (especially the thick one) to break the monotony of the shot. It is how it is composed, I also composed one without the tree.





But I like it with the tree, you might feel different. I generally like multiple layers (not photoshop layers) in my composition. I take my compositions very seriously, nothing gets in there by accident unless it is totally unavoidable.

Was this done without a mount? The last few pictures are a bit blurred. Also, what magnification were you using? I find the HS10 quirky at higher magnifications.
