Lovely just like plunging in the whirlpool one question , how this zoom during exposure was achieved manually rotating the ring or your cam allows this ?

Milecruncher 1st pic is really good.

In second pic a flash bounced from some white surface will provide the necessary details and act as fill in because sun is at the back.

I liked the 3ed pic color rendering is quite natural for dry interiors of India, usually people artificially bump up the color saturation and contrast in PP so the normal colors like this look out of the place.

On second thought I think slightly higher shutter speed would have helped in 3ed pic as highlights near to legs of deer are quite high.

.
Thanks, yes it is done by rotating the zoom ring while clicking.. If the exposure time is long enough , you get this effect..

I think this can be done in all SLRs, because the zooming is done manually on the lens and it doesn't prevent or control the exposure in any way..

Thanks , Yes but I reading about hacking Sigma 70-300 to give macro mode from 70mm onwards instead of 200-300mm which sigma provides and it was mentioned somewhere that if you rotate the zoom ring manually while lens is trying to AF that may damage the AF mechanism so I asked may be it is just a fisherman's tale.

Here is the link to the said hack
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=347765

While searching further on how to open the Sigma 70-300 I found few comments indicating that AF thing.
I have not done any experiment as of now because not too confident about opening this lens.

Edit : I realized rather late that there is no need to keep button half pressed in this case :-)

I realized one thing that day, super-excited parents can spoil 90% of your shots by jumping up and blocking the view. Next time we plan to put them with seat belts

Looks like you shot it from a close distance! Where was it?
And what's the solution?

It was close indeed, this was at the crocodile bank in Chennai. I have an Atomizer from the lens cleaning kit, it works well for these kind of issues.

For lens rim try Iso-propyle alcohol ( 99.99%) pure available at surgical shops
or you can try Zippo lighter fluid as well ( Neptha)
