Don't read up on G1, read up on G3, GX1 and GH2. They're the flagship models from Panasonic now. G1 was the first camera and is a very old model now (considering how fast models come these days). I am eagerly waiting for Olympus OM-D. If it's good, I'll probably skip GH2 and get that instead.

Love the second one, is that sensor dust on the third ?
Those are birds, the image was shot at a shutter speed of 1/10 handheld. So the birds blurred away in motion.

I got bored of seeing all the night moonshots in pitch dark background so tried a different moon shot.

Sony A35 with Minolta 70-210mm f/4 lens, taken at 6:49PM today. Didn't have a tripod so I supported myself and the lens on the gate. :P

Jungle Owlets

/\ Now, that's a very creative shot

But, isn't that two exposures merged together in post processing?

Thanks, and yes you guessed it very correctly!
Aperture : f/6.3. Focal length: 210mm
ISO800 & 1/5s for the sky and 1SO200 & 1/200s for the moon. Cropped from the original 16 MP image. Didn't let the camera do any NR to preserve whatever sharpness it had, and then applied a subtle custom NR in PS with Noiseware.

Nice capture of the owlets! You could have zoomed in on them more (if you had more mm), or cropped a bit if you have mega pixels to play around with :P

That was not a guess. It is quite obvious even without looking at it from the exposure point of view.

There's no yow you can have both the tree and the moon in sharp focus in the same shot as they are millions of miles apart!

These owlets are really small in size... a tad smaller that your average pigeon. This photo was made with my 400mm prime lens on a 7D and is already cropped about 30%.

Since I wanted this as a habitat shot, I did not crop any further

So, both can be in focus technically (hyper-focal distance) , if the tree branch was little more away from me, provided I shot it with a narrower aperture.

At 210mm & f/32 with my camera, if I had an option to focus on a branch which was 68.7 meters or more away from the lens, the moon in the shot would have been also in focus. This is practically difficult though, to get a far branch at that distance and moon in same frame (mostly possible only when moon is on the horizon) and also shooting at f/32 can also introduce moon trail & shaky branch because of the need for longer exposure..

Find it here
