CRV2010, You can also cross check with RK on 22251929, sometimes he quotes 1k less for certain lenses. I always do that before putting money on the table.

You stay in north ? I am near BEL circle :)

shajufx, Thanks i will cross check with RK tomorrow. One of my friend is coming from US next week which is the best place for buying lens ?

BEL Circle is 4-5kms from my place. I stay near Bagalagunte

woha brilliant images in Helios. do we get these in Bangalore? what is cost of M42 ADAPTER?

The cost varies from 1000/- to 2500/- depending upon the DSLR body you have. But I shall warn you not to buy un-branded ones(they cost around 200/- to 500/-), these cheap quality adapters might damage the mount!!! You may try with the ebay.com. Search around some photography forums on which brand you should go for your DSLR. I have pentax film SLR K1000. The original pentax M42 adapter costs around 2500/- in the ebay.com and is shipped from China. The same adapter can also be used for the Pentax DSLRs as the DSLRs also have the K-mount.

Folks,

This is the price list that I have received from Bangalore based distributors - Subhash Distributors Ltd. .

@Saju - Do you think this is the best price or someone else is offering something better?

@Star - did you makeup your mind? When are you taking the plunge? :thumbs up

I am looking at D300s and in wait and watch mode to see if we can get it at some lesser prices. :D

Thanks.

the prices seem a little higher compared to Hyderabad. A D90 here is 35K body only and 47 with the lens...A D3000 is available for 21.5K with Vr lens...etc

JJ, All the prices are higher than RK and Jayesh. So I would say they come nowhere in the bargain deals. I think I spoke to them, they dont offer grey prices, which doesnt make sense to a Nikon buyer as he is not going to get anything from a billed item, unless one is very particular about warranty, guarantee, service etc. Even a billed product is offered cheaper at other places. They quoted me 40k for a D90 body which is 5k higher than what I can get from other places, not only that, I have to pay half the money and wait few days for them to get me the product.

Dear All;

I am planning to buy 1000 D with IS 18-55 lens. Most of the shops in NCR are not ready to change the lens for IS one or asking exorbitant amount for the same. Any pointers to the decent price of 1000 D with 18-55 IS lens would be helpful in closing the deal.

Helios is good , I am tempting to buy one but getting from e-bay will not serve any purpose considering shipping charges and duty which customs may slap.

So my wish-list now

1.SMC Takumar 50mm 1.4
2. Helios-44

Hmm, you might be able to find these lenses locally itself, but the problem is getting the adapters. You'll have to get it shipped from the US, there won't be any customs on it I think. By the way, there's someone who's selling a couple of good MF lenses on BPC right now. You guys might be interested.

@Hellwrath: What's BPC?

smokie, its British Petroleum Corporation !:)

Oh this is DSLR thread, then it should be Bangalore Photography Club !

Perfectly said, its better you try to find these locally. When ever you see some old photography studio / store ask them whether they have any old lenses with them. Ignore the zoom lenses. Just buy the primes. Keep an eye on the Russian sellers on ebay for a bit costly lens - in the range of $35 to $45. They might ship them for free of cost!!

Any warranty issues with nikon camera's in general?
how is the a-s-s of nikon compared to canon ?

In hyderabad, guys are asking for Rs 2000 to Rs 2500 for upgrading the lens to IS....

Non IS 1000D is 22K and IS is appx 24-24.5K with b/w

hey Hellwrath,

In Hyderabad u get get Helios within Rs 1000 for a 58mm f2 and m42 adapter are available in abundance on ebay India for Rs 280....now I see that guy increased the prices to Rs 320 but if u call him directly he still quotes Rs 280 :-)

I had seen a helios few days back at a local shop but it has light cleaning marks on the front coating...shud not impact the quality of the pics though...

Wow Rajismine, thank you for that info. I had always thought that adapters were only available outside of India and never thought of searching ebay India. Going to buy one right away! Thanks again :).
