Anyone has some clue about where to buy a BENRO ball head (considering BH-0) in Bangalore ? |
I got my Fiesol after lunchtime, its a solid and lightweight carbon fiber tripod. Receiving the courier in my hand, I really doubted if there is anything inside the package, because it was too light !
I could not spot a single shop in Bangalore for Benro as my usual places like RK, Jayesh, Ronnie etc stock only Manfrotto and few other brands. Ronnie is already a friend of mine, although I havent bought anything from him so far, but spoken to him couple of hours on phone on different DSLR parts. Jayesh said he can get what I want regardless of the brand but will take few days.
So, I decided to order from Gaffarbhai & Sons, Mumbai through a reference. Paid for Benro BH-0 ball head through bank transfer. Its 2450 + 250 (speed post) = 2700. Spoke to Sameer who owns the business, he promised it will be shipped to me first thing tomorow morning. Hopefully it should reach me by Friday.

I spoke to Ronnie about uniloc, but the cost is a big factor for people like me who never do anything for commercial line. The maximum I have in mind is a 'serious hobbyist'. Also the depreciation of DSLR equipments are not much, we will get a decent value even at a later stage.
Rohit, dont think too much about cameras and cars, these two things are so addictive, it can make you slog for collecting things one by one. I am not thinking about it anymore, because its gone way too much. I started with a D60 kit and now the bag content is costing 1.50 lak :Shockked:
I am selling Canon 400D [Canon Kiss X] along with 18-55 IS lens and 2 GB CF card and UV filter, bought on April 2008, less than normal usage. Flawless condition, but what price can I expect for this package?

Reason for sale and what you are purchasing as replacement ? Sorry I have no input on the price front

This was actually bought by my uncle who used it off and on and now he is switching to Nikon with D90 + 18-105 VR [due to specializing in portrait photography] and I used to have it when needed - during non-usage times it used to remain in the airtight box, very securely and with care.
After that I bought the canon 450d in October 2009, since he was not sure of selling at that time otherwise I would have taken it up at that time.
As such he has given me the go-ahead of selling it off - I am buying the 55-250 IS lens. So that minus that everything is up for sale, 400D + 18-55 IS lens + bag + UV filter + 2gb CF card + Charger. And BTW this was purchased from the gray market but a very reliable shop in April 2008. The model is the equivalent Japanese one, Digital Kiss X. As said, the camera is in very good condition.
Only that dont know what price point it should to be sold now ? somewhere around 13-15K for all that [400D + 18-55 IS lens + bag + UV filter + 2gb CF card + Charger].

A friend of mine was offered a 400D for 18k with 18-55 non IS lens with Extreme IV 4GB card included which he was willing to pay. Finally he bought it along with the battery grip and other goodies for 24k. (I think they were filters, hood, bag, wireless remote and tripod!!). Yeah the camera was in excellent condition I should say.

Thats a good price point, may be around 16-18 k then - with the 18-55
IS lens being the standout other than the camera.
Canon 400D is a very good camera for our usage and still stands it ground.
Immediate update - Canon 400 D with 18-55 IS and other things sold off for 15 K right now. End of story then.

For a bit more (about 40K) you can get the D5000 with the 18-105VR lens which I really like as you can later add a 70-300VR and 50/1.8 and get a very nice system. |
Does the 18-105 VR autofocus with the D5000? This is the same lens as comes in the D90 kit, isn't it?
As explained earlier- my only worry with the D5000 is the lack of a built-in autofocus motor. (Hence lens availability/ compatibility). Else, i am comfortable buying a Nikon instead.
What would be the grey market price for D5000 + 18-105 VR? As per smartshoppers, it would come to 46 k (w B/W). Thats too close to the D90, and stretching my budget as well.
What is the use of this lense Canon EF 50mm/ 1,8/ Objektiv II
I found very good review for this lense and its cheap too, only 113 EUR. But I am not getting for what photography I will be using it. I already have 18-55 and 55-250.

Yes it does! It will with most any AF-S lens. What I like about the D5000 is that it's LCD rotates and hence makes Liveview much more useful. |
Interesting! Thanks navin for pointing this out. :thumbs up
Is the 18- 105 VR that good a lens as to comand even more price than Nikon AF-S 18-55mm DX VR Lens + with Nikon AF-S 55-200mm DX VR Lens combo?

Not really, One reason could be 18-105 lens is the new arrival on the shelf compared to the other two.
55-200 lens you mentioned here has f4-5.6 which makes it a slow lens and not suitable for low light and fast photography.
I would suggest you to go for 18-105 lens because it could avoid the frequent lens change and there by avoiding dust getting settled on the sensor.

This falls in the "Prime Lens" Category which has the fixed focal length and a very large fstop (f1.8).
This help you to shoot in very low light conditions.
Good for Indoor shooting without the aid of a flash.
The lens is very sharp and it's the cheapest option for portraits where you get a good bokeh (background blur).
