If it is in working condition, buy it. (of course, I would prefer to buy only a manual lens if I were to buy a used one!!) When you are buying it at 4000/-, you are worrying about reselling value!! Common, when you want to sell it, sell it for 2k, it will sold!!!

joshguy,

I would recommend the LPE5 equivalent from dealextreme (~300ish) or your friendly photography market.

I second that suggestion of non OEM LP E5, using one purchased from Amazon, it is as good as original Canon

Dear Gurus,

Can you suggest (brand) ND filter for 77mm lens (Nikon 17~55 f/2.8). What kind of ND filter should I order. My reading in net states 0.6 filter is most useful, do you guys suggest me buying only this filter or should I get whole set?

Is this ideal to buy it here (Bangalore) or shall I order in amzon-us (i have person who can bring it here). Thanks for your help.

I searched in Bangalore but seems no one is stocking brand name multi coated ND4 and ND8 filters like Hoya or Kenko.

If you want to buy brand name Multicoated genuine stuff ( Hoya , BW etc) then buy from some reputed dealer like B&H or Adorama. There are too many fakes selling on e-bay etc.

Also you should spend on brand name only if you are looking at top / medium quality like Pro 1 D or HMC. There is no point in buying Hoya Green/ Kenko uncoated or Mauramu uncoated as they are plain glass and any good quality generic stuff will be as good as them.

Since I was not looking to spend big bucks here and not wanted to wait. I ordered for OMAX ND8 and ND4 filters from Delhi.

These are made in India but I heard they are good quality. Omax lists some of it's stuff on ebay.in but ND8 was not there so I called up owner of Omax yesterday and on my request he listed ND8 , Made the purchased and it is shipped with in 2 hours by them. Will post my test results once I receive the package.

At 325 for ND4 and 450 for ND8 they are steal and I won't regret even if they do not turn up so good. Shipping time to Bangalore is just 2 days as per them so better then going to Majastic area and hunt there.

Buy a third party battery. I am using one in my 350D for a long time. There are lots of sellers on ebay.com where you can get this for around 6$(free shipping to India).
If you do not want third party battery, go to Smartshoppers showroom in Chennai, and buy a LP-E5 battery for approx 1200 INR.

If you want to buy from ebay, a genuine battery costs 1500rs approx

See I would suggest either you buy a genuine LP-E5 battery from Canon dealer at whatever price it comes or buy a 5$ one . There is no point in buying any other in between and wasting money because it is fully possible it is same as 5$ generic stuff.

I am using this battery for 1 year , I have one Canon LP-E5 and one aftermarket ( Max made in China purchased from Amazon for 5$).

I use both of them alternately one fully charged goes in battery and another remains in bag and get the same battery life from both of them.

Thank you Amit ,any idea how long it takes for the 5$ battery to get delivered in India?

Genuine battery on ebay costs 1500 INR. Its imported battery, in canon box and is original.
As for the 5$ batteries, when you buy, mail the seller before making payment that you want registered airmail. It will add 2$ to your order, and your shipment will arrive within 2 weeks.

Dear Experts,

Can you suggest which model is best buy, I have and used Fujifilm F47 P&S with good results for indoor and general photography, also have Fujifilm S8000 used for outdoors with good results. Now I want to upgrade to Nikon 90D 18-55m lens for professional quality pictures. Telephoto lens 200 mm (Nikkor) or Tomron 300 mm. Please give best
advise for Nikon range of Cameras and separate for outdoor landscape photograpy, which is best choice.

Here in Jeddah cost of Nikon D90 with :
1. Nikon D90 with 18-55mm lens around SR. 3000/= approx
2. Nikon D90 w/o 18-55mm lens instead with Nikkor 200mm lens SR.4200/= aprox.
3. Tomron 300mm lens Sr.?? (need to check)

Canon EOS 1000D ?? (don't know much) but looks like close competitor Nikon.

Please which is best Camera and best choice, what is essential accessories important so that it can bargain while buying as a package
instead of buying separately.

Thanks,

vintage,

Nikon D90 is a very good camera. But in general, its the lens that matters more in terms of the type of photography. Telephoto lenses are not suitable for landscape. If your main area of interest is landscape, you should look for wide angle lenses (10-20mm range). Nikon users can suggest the exact lens.

In case of Canon, 1000D is the entry level. You can look for 500/550D which will have features comparable to (and in the price range of) Nikon D90.

Thanks Amit for your answers. Guess getting multiquoted in 77mm is huge investment at this moment. I too will go cheaper way to start with and progressively add accessories.

So as per you only plain ND filters available in Bangalore or is it non available? In OMAX is multiquoted filter?

I ordered from dealextreme. it came on its sweet time (under 3 weeks) an year + back.

I use it along with the OEM canon in my camera grip BG-E5. Never used really long (max 300+ shots with flash during 2 day once)

No simple plain filter .. Absolutely NO ND filter was available this weekend in Bangalore they simply had no stock when I called up all major stores often cited in this thread for purchasing camera bodies / lenses.

Many so called reputed shops attandents did not even understand what exactly is ND filter. I did not check at GG Welling as I already asked them a week before.

OMAX is simple uncoated filter but I have heard good things about them. What else you expect for 325 Rs for a 58mm ND4 .

This is website of Omax Omax Photographics

And here are the e-bay links.

You can give him my reference as he did exactly this for me.

@Vintagepoint

If you take Nikon D90/D3100, I would suggest you to take nikon 35 f1.8 DX and the 70-300 zoom lens. These two are very good lenses. No idea about canons.
