Hey Jaguar

Have you actually used the Sanyo Eneloop batteries? When I was googling around for the 'BEST' rechargeable batteries, most (90%) people recommended Sanyo Eneloop.

And now the next question. Which charger should be bought along with the Sanyo batteries?

Thanks Jaguar.

Got the Sanyo Enelopp 4 batteries + Charger for 1100/-. This store is one of the best in Pune for cameras as the owner is extremely knowledgeable person himself. When I asked him which are the best batteries, he says "I only stock Sanyo Eneloop". :)

Yes, I use Eneloops and am very satisfied. The best part is, they don't lose charge like the other batteries do.
Any good charger would do. I use my some 8+ year old Chameleon charger.

I had Eneloops but I am more happy with ENVIE 2800 mAh. You get a pair for less than 300 bucks. I got 4 of them and their own 4-cell charger for 1k few months back. My usage is mainly in the SB700 flash (early SB600), it gives almost double life than my previous set of batteries.

Thanks Shaju, now to begin the hunt for this gadget or a dry box. Though my wife has warned me of dire consequences if she sees any more photography related stuff being purchased. :D I may have to stick with humble silica gel pouches.

Cheers and thanks once again!

Regards,

I found a web-link where this product is displayed. Around 700 bucks.

I had same fear about my better-half earlier, but its no more there now. She thinks and believes that my gadgets would bring some bucks soon. Even I know that, because I can sell them for a better price now :D

Which are the best rechargeable batteries for a P&S type camera? I have 4 of them and they dont last more than 1-2 hrs, even if charged for more than 7-8 hrs.

Since you purchased eneloops, did you purchased the 1900mah or the newer 2500mah ones?

I use the XX ones. They seriously have way more power and juice than the 1900s.

Are you planning to buy something like this in Bangalore? If yes, then my suggestion is don't even bother. In Bangalore unless you're keeping your gear inside a close area.. nothing will happen. Yes, I'm taking those rainy months into consideration too. I haven't seen a single moisture related issue since 2003.

Thank god, at least she still has her senses intact after spending such long time with you. :D

The one I got today are 2000 mAh. I was confident at the time of purchase since i know the owner knows the stuff.

I agree with Rudra about Bangalore weather not requiring a Digicabi. But, for anyone else who needs info on it can look at this thread on JJMPF. Pretty comprehensive info and discussion on digicabi.

No dada, I was suggesting it for Sunil (Clevermax). Silica gels are doing its duty for me. As long as I am enhancing her 'hope' part, I am safe :)

I think one should use this along with an airtight box otherwise eventually the absorber will become saturated with moisture and it will stop absorbing any more water - as good as keeping the camera in the bag without one of these.

All DSLR gurus, I need some advice on DSLR storage. I normally just leave it in my bag. Its actually a DSLR backpack with great padding etc. Is it good enough? I'd also like to know how you guys store your DSLRs.

Thanks!

This was picked up from Singapore by my friend, you should find them in Ebay or accessory shops that sell camera stuff (never seen in India so far). It has a pull out plug for AC power charging. Dry stage shows blue gels, needs charging when it becomes pink. You put it in a bag that's highly moist, the blue becomes pink within few hours :)

Any idea if this is available in Bangalore?

Edit: Just read your post again. Missed the part where you said you haven't seen it in Bangalorestupid:. Let me know if you happen to come across in any shops

Leave it in the bag with few silica gel packs. That should suffice.

Bangalore has relatively dry weather and I feel DSLRs and lenses will be safe if they are at least used once in a while..

I had been keeping my DSLR and lenses in a bag in my cupboard in this humid Kerala weather. There was a three month long idle period when I didn't touch the bag - that did the damage, I had fungus on one of my lenses and on the DSLR's LCD. Thankfully, nothing was there on the sensor.

If you are in a humid area, drybox is suggested. Just keeping a moisture absorber in your camera bag can't preserve it for long.

If you work in an air conditioned office, keeping the stuff there would help -AC dehumidifies air and in places like large square feet office buildings, that dryness will stay overnight even if they don't run AC during night.

I dont store them, but its almost always outside except when I sleep :) Rest of the things are taken care of by silica gels. I collect them free from wherever I get it (even from Orbit tins). I must be having half a kilo by now in 30-40 sachets.

Will keep checking.

Forgot to mention, I received my Kenko Pro1D UV filters yesterday. I had Hoya Pro1D CPL & ND filters which were sold 2 months back, and I find Kenko and Hoya very similar, somewhere I read that both are from the same factory. It sounds very true, because except the name change, I cant find any other difference. Its definitely 2 leagues above the cheapo Marumi, Osaka filters.
