Wow, A77.... That will be the EVIL KING! Looking forward! I was eyeing the A55 but 35 has the same sensor, it made more sense, since it is selling at a price which is less than where it should sell and I can live without the articulated LCD.

Hello Experts,

I am here again for shopping. Last week I purchased Canon 550D with 18-135. Now I am out for purchasing flash. Canon makes are too costlier so avoiding them. So here are the deals. Please suggest me from following list and any make flash which falls around Rs.6k

1) Nissin Di466: Rs.4800
2) Nissin Di622: Rs.7200
3) Sunpack PZ42X: Rs.6800

I heard lot of good reviews about YongNuo YN468 II but unfortunately it is available in India with premium on ebay. Normally this should come @Rs.6k. China sellers sell it at $100 with shipping.

Basically I need simple E-TTL flash with basic features. Nothing extra is needed. Does anybody own any of these flashes? What are the advantages or disadvantages in these models?

I had two of Yongnuo 467 flashes, got it for around 4k per piece I think (from Yongnuo HK ebay site). It was as good as my Nikon SB600 with all the functions and an added slave function which was not present in a 12k worth SB600. It also comes with diffusers and a decent velvet pouch. Sold both for 4k each as I was planning to sell off my entire Nikon kit. Yea I did not lose anything in this process because both were with me for hardly two months. I would recommend it to anyone, also seen few PROs using them as additional strobes. :thumbs up

Guys, I remember someone mentioning about his plan to buy a Nikon 70-300 VRII lens. I had bought the same 50 days back with B&W and never really used it as I was busy with many other things. It was bought when I sold my Sigma 70-200 2.8 thinking I would keep it for a good time. Now I am selling it (only reason = lack of space and chance of very less usage), let me know if anyone wants to pick it up ! Please use the PM button.

Santa Claus visited me yesterday (yea almost 22 days before Xmas) and he gave me all the dream Nikon kit I was wishing for a long long time. Here I go crazy and spell bound for many days to come. Gift bag had Nikon 24-70 f/2.8 G, 70-200 f/2.8 G, 50mm f/1.4 G and 105 f/2.8 G and now you can call me Giiiii :D

Now if I blame my bad images to lenses, I will be subjected to mass kick on my butt in public, if not anything more severe !!

Ha ha, I am pinching myself frequently to believe it. I never ever thought I would by any chance in this lifetime get 4 beauty glasses (the best Nikon has ever made) in one go. But probably God has a plan, I can only think in that line.

Interesting part is, Santa came in the shape of a friend who is moving 100% to videography and selling all his PRO DSLR gear for very reasonable price, I dont want to mention figures here. He was a hobbyist so none of these are abused, in fact not even used properly. My only wish is to do justice to these glasses in the coming days. It might be a silly thing to majority of our engine wengine souls here, but this was something like my 'dream come true' :)

Congratulations Shaju :-) Santa is sure smiling on you, having got these lenses at what I assume is a bargain price. The 70-200, is it the VR1 or 2, coz I remember you asking for the VR2 a week back. I am aiming to get the 105mm macro lens and the 24mm F/1.4G some day.

Price is in line with the KEH or Amazon quotes, not much of a difference, but the attractive part is many small small things that come with it. Every lens has a Hoya Pro1 UV filter on it. There is a humidity control small gadget which is charged and left in the bag for protection. Then the rocket blower, pen/brush lens cleaner, cleaner tissues, Nikon reverse ring, Hoya adapter, the list is long !! An approximate estimation of these tiny things crosses 20k easily. 70-200 is VRI, though I was looking for VRII, so far no idea what improvement they have made on the VRII !!

As we discuss on some high end equipment in the last few threads, let me jump in with my basic questions :)

Currently I use Panasonic FZ-35 & looked for a telephoto lens as add on. Found that most of the telephoto lens does not work good on FZ-35 & on top of it those were expensive to get.

Though Iam new entrant to this world, it was then, I got this DSLR fever. I wanted to purchase NEX-3 based on inputs from reliable sources, but somehow didn't like those slim appearance & mostly would finalize the Nikon D3100.

Planning not to purchase the default lenses (18-55) & go for something like 18-135 to 200 based on commercials, so that there is not need for swapping any lenses. Primary purpose is to capture the nature (mountains/Roads/My car/Kids on road side) as I travel long journeys

Any suggestions on the lenses?

Also Iam confused whether to sell my FZ-35 and get a new DSLR or retain it and opt for a used DSLR.

Spot on. But other than vignetting it also had corner softness on FF. Other than the traditional KR and bythom reviews - here's another

PS - Other than the VR system, resolution of those issues is one of the reasons why there's a substantial price diff between the old and new versions, though the VR2 is not faultless. No lens is perfect. IMHO the 14-24 as close to optical perfection as you can get.

That's a nice deal what with the blower, tissue et al. You need to be aware that the VR1 has some shortcomings on FX cameras as above.

What is that anti humidity gadget called? I have a substantial investment in lenses and would like to use one of them over and above my silica gel pouches.

100% crop from a 16 MP image from my A35 taken at 210mm, manual focus.
Lens, Minolta 70-210mm, 1/160s, ISO100, f/8.

It is so very easy to click such a shot using the EVF, you can easily set shooting parameters looking through it and you can see what you will get before clicking. I remember clicking the same shot with DSLR using the same lens, and I had to struggle for a while to get everything right. Since EVF offers a 100% crop view for accurate focusing, you can nail the focus in manual mode.
