As I said, the D7000 it should be, though if you have a budget of 80k, then go for the D7100.

Agree with you to a point, but there are some folks who would prefer to stick with a crop sensor. Also, full frames are relatively quite expensive. Features wise high DX cameras can be as good as some entry level full frames.

No, on the contrary its spanking new! Im having a Sony DSC 20V also, both these seem to have almost similar capabilities.

Yup I'll wait for D7100 prices to stabilize.

Where did you buy it and how much? I find flipkart expensive compared to other sites, though my experience with flipkart is very good. I intend to order it from camshot.in. D5100 seems to be the best choice in my budget.

Got it for INR 5499 from http://www.ebay.in/itm/ws/eBayISAPI....m=200909838238. Couldnt find better deal for a quick delivery as some clicking opportunity is there for next week. Non TTL versions were as cheap as INR 3500.

Special thanks to Shajufx for all the small but valuable tips.

If i am not mistaken you could also have bought a YN-560 III for about the same kind of cash.

It was bought from Canada. Around 800$ which includes the D5100 Body, 50mm f1.8G lens, 16GB memory card and lowerpro carrycase.

Note to all DSLR owners:

Most DSLR's have a open/ hidden option in the menu settings where you can enter your name & basic contact details. Please do update this.

e.g in Canon - In the Set up 3 menu under Copyright Info - you can enter your info into the camera there. Every picture taken with the camera will have the data you enter here in the EXIF information.

Thanks, Did'nt know about this feature, have entered my details in there. BTW it was quite a pain to figure out how to move to the alphabets, till I noticed the small menu asking me to enter "Q" to move over to that part of the screen. Quite a tricky user interface, till you figure out what buttons you need to press.

I was with a strict 5K budget. YN-560 III was coming above 7K and I could not find vital reasons to choose it over YN465 as its my first experience with a flash :D.

I wanted a bit of advice from the participants here on a suitable monopod. I am stuck between the following:

The Manfrotto 682B - which is heavy but can double up as a pseudo tripod
The Manfrotto 685B - which is supposed to be fast

I am not an expert on this subject and would like your comments please on these choices or other recommended ones. I would also like your recommendation on a good camera back back pack and a head for the monopod.

The monopod would carry one of my two DSLRs mounted with a Nikon 80-200 or a Sigma 150-500 and should be suitable for heavy weight. The backpack should be capable of taking those two bodies and three to four lenses - Nikon 80-200 (large), Nikon 50mm (small), Nikon 85mm (smallish medium) and a Tamron 180mm (medium). Thanks in advance.

Gentlemen (and ladies if any),

I have bought the bag - a Lowepro Pro Runner 350 AW. It can take the following as of last night:
  1. One D7000 with an 80-200
  2. One Tamron 180mm
  3. One Nikon 50mm
  4. One Nikon 18-105mm
  5. One D90 body
  6. Battery chargers for the both the cameras
  7. Cables

There is still a tonne of space. Maybe not a tonne, more like laptop, latop charger and some other papers can go in. Will request your valuable suggestions on the monopod please.

Based on the basic research on the web and suggestions from experts, I narrowed down few models. Then chose YN465 based on the feedbacks, my budget and usage.

I didnt find Simpex 999 as "E-TTL" was my primary keyword. Read many posts that Manual flash is not that difficult to use but then I am still a beginner and did not want to take a chance if not found comfortable after purchase. However INR 2500 for a swivel head zoom flash though Manual is no doubt a deal when it comes with India warranty as well.

My new acquisition- the carbon fiber ball-head tripod. Went to buy a Benro/Manfrotto, but picked up this Triopo.

@jacs, OK. Please do post some of your shots taken using the flash.

Was calculating the weight your shoulders should tolerate. Yes, a good bag with nice padding helps a lot.

Congrats. Your photo in Non-auto Image section came out well. Any snaps of the Triopo loaded with cam?

Sure. I would need couple of days to get easy with it.

Does it have a laptop pocket / sleeve ?
