Psp 3000

Guys...my bro is getting the PSP3000 from the US...but I fear there is no way to hack it (not sure if I can do it myself in the first place). Anyone knows any place in Cochin that would do this hacking?? Or am I forced to buy the UMD games itself?

it ll all depend on the firmware version the psp came with.

Secondly, the psp 3k series' patch is not permament.
ie u have to reapply the patch everytime u reboot ur psp.

But Sony has been pulling good tricks to avoid piracy and also some very good titles are slated to come on the psp like Gran tourismo, Assassins creed and Lil big planet.
enuf to keep u busy these days.
u can always trade ur umdz or get them cheap off sites like gaming indians or any other gaming site.

PSP 2000...Analogue joystick replacement-Help Please !

Hi,

I have a PSP 2000 which was bought from the US in May 2008.
The analogue joystick has a problem and its kinda stuck. I need to replace it.
The Sony service station has declined to replace the joystick and had advised me to go in for a new PSP

Could any of the friends in this forum kindly guide me to the right place where I could get it fixed?
I could do it either in Chennai or at Hyderabad. Thanks a tonne in advance

Internet has many links pointing out to replacement analogue joystick for the PSP costing any where between 25USD to 30USD. And they are all DIY types.

I love my PSP and now I am scratching my head.

Its not too difficult to replace that part.

Order it from either playasia or from dealextreme. Wont cost you a bomb and you can replace it after reading a lil bit from the Internet.
Its for abt $2 and is reliable stuff.

Sony is obv not doing any good by not offering the service of their products.

That analog module comes cheap - $2 something from dealextreme.com
purchase it either from there or from playasia.com.
Its not diff to replace that part either, just read few such query thread off the net and you would be able to do it.

PSP 3004 or PSP Go?

Hey guys! Which is a better, PSP 3004 or the recently launched PSP Go?
There's a price difference of Rs.5000 between the two.
The PSP Go has a smaller screen and is compact as it doesn't use a CD as you have to pay and download games from PSN.

Both use the same 333 processor, PSP GO has 16GB flash memory and bluetooth over PSP but lacks UMD drive and Infrared.

Sony said in a press conference that PSP GO is not a replacement for the PSP..
They both target different areas of the market.

Problems with PSP GO.
1) Go can’t play PSP games
2) You can’t rent/borrow or loan out games for the Go
3) You can’t import games for the Go
4) Can’t use TV out and AC power at the same time

Hey guys, I'm a total noob here. Recently seen one 2nd hand PSP for 7k, that one seems like almost new. What should be the good price for a PSP? It had a game loaded on it and they were telling that another Game CD/DVD will also be given with the PSP. Don't know what version of PSP it was but it looked very new. Any place where I can learn more about the PSP's? Some pointers?

Well the old PSP's are now very difficult to get and 7k at present (after 3k series and PSPGO) is worth it. Earlier 2nd hand PSP's were selling at 4k-5k range. Now even these prices are shoot up till 12k !!

PSP-1000 (any version) and PSP-2000 (firmware version till 3.95) is safe to unlock.
Just use google to search PSP Custom firmware you will get lots of pointers.

Thanks wildon for the info. I did remember that 2nd hand PSP's were being sold for 5k around here in the forum itself. And what about games like Gran Tourino etc, are they compatible with older versions?
What is the cost of the new one's? 3k series?

Actually, any firmware upto 5.03 can be hacked. Including PSP 3000 models. The hack is inconvenient and unstable (sometimes needs multiple tries before it will run), but once done, it's as good as the previous versions.

On all PSP 1000 models and certain older models of PSP 2000, you can do the Pandora Battery/Memstick hack and have full bootable custom firmware.

Sony PSP2... Codenamed NGP

Below are some pictures from Engadget!

Specs include a quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processor, 5-inch touchscreen OLED display with 960 x 544 resolution, dual analog sticks (not nubs as on the current generation), 3G, WiFi, GPS, a rear-mounted touchpad, the same accelerometer / gyroscope motion sensing as in the PlayStation Move, an electronic compass and cameras on both the front and back.

Had the power to run MGS4 at 20 FPS.
