i haven't had to ever switch the tv format on all the tvs i have had (crt, lcd, plasma)- it just happens automatically irrespective of the games region. TVs have been auto-select and multi-system for the last 15yrs !! Its the region coded dvds and blurays you need to be clear on - i always cart back from US a huge number of cheapo blurays and dvds and hence need a US PS3. Blurays in india are not affordable and indian dvds can be played on any cheap indian dvd player (infact all indian dvd players are hacked to play all regions by distributors to avoid support cases by irate dvd player owners trying to play dvds purchased outside india)

PS3 anyday! I can go on an on about the PS3 and why is it better than the 360, but in short, i love the Wi-fi option, (limited) but backward compatibility with PS2 games, bluetooth controller, DivX playback and the Free Online Multiplayer option the PS3 offers. I got a fantastic deal a few months back from Costco - a 40 GB PS3, a wireless controller and cables for only $299 USD + 2 used games for under $20 each. I'll wait it out till Blu Ray becomes the norm in India and phases out DVD's. Can always buy used games off Ebay until then. One satisfied PS3 customer - and loving it!

thats a nice deal

no point in waiting it out for blurays to become norm in india, must of them are region coded and won't work on the US PS3. Blurays are cheaper in US (20usd average per movie) and you can get them from there if you intend to enjoy the quality right away

That's what I too read. You can get region free Bluray DVD movies these days.

Check the following site
Blu-Ray Region Code Info

If you are not sure of a particular DVD title, their website says you can email regiontest@movietyme.com with details of the release/dvd and they will get back on whether the DVD is Region free or not.

thats true - but i have around 30+ blu rays so far and quite a few like transporter (1 & 2) are not region free. Also there are a few errors on the site, like terminator series (1 and 3) and rambo are not region free.

Besides I didnt want to wait till blurays in india get to the cost of 20usd, not likely for some time in my opinion. Even dvds in US are dirt cheap (read 3usd to 9usd) . So I am glad I retained a US PS3 and for the occassional splurge on dvds/blurays in India, i have the indian ps3
I wouldn't recommend the 2 PS3s option to anyone though, its by chance I ended up that way, but found multiple ways to use the best of both (eg one of them also boots up as linux PC based region free home theatre)

Adding a friend is pretty simple

Under Friends go to Add a friend. enter their online id and you're good to go.

I was downloading some HD trailers from the Playstation store and guess what!! You can download the trailer for the bluray of Saawariya. Not bad eh?
