Which Anti-virus software do you use ?

I am also a convert to MSE - from my personal experiance, the next best is Kaspersky.

I have tried AVG free, Avast free, Norton, McAfee, Bitdefender etc and I still have 2 laptops and one desktop running with KAV and one desktop with Bitdefender, but I have decided that when the license expires, I am going for MSE.

My office computer is running trend micro and the scheduled scan gets really resource hungry.

i am using avira free edition from past 2 years.
It is very resource friendly. not a memory hog like others or slows the system in the background. and it is very simple to use.

It is much better than others w.r.t.o to what it is ! simple and effective anti-virus.

AVG was ok 2 Yrs ago. but then, later it got resource hungry.
Norton lost as anti-virus 4 yrs ago.

I use Avast Personal Edition which is free for personal use. It has got some good detection mechanism and a satisfactory removal system. The only niggle with Avast is - registration (free) required every 14 months.

The worst crap I've come across is - Comodo Anti-Virus. Lousiest performance for a anti-virus (Comodo's Firewall is good actually). It does not have a simple interface to do a on-demand scan for a drive. It follows the schedule-scan style which is outright ridiculous for emergencies.

Donno how Comodo can churn out a good firewall but a crappy anti-virus.

Avast Home Edition is really good. Apart from the headached of re-registering it, its a really good antivirus for which you DONT have to pay anything. Been using it for a really long time now.

Just switched over from Avast to Kaspersky Internet Security 2011.
I thought Avast and MSE were very good, and indeed, they are, for free solutions. But to my shock, after installing Kaspersky and updating the definitions, the scan found out 3 malicious exe files on my system which the other two did not.

However... It is more of a memory and CPU hog than the other two, and I would not recommend it on an older system running 1GB RAM or less. Apart from that, it works pretty good, and the best part, was cheap, as compared to Norron (which I have heard is the best). I got mine 2 months ago, 3 system license for Rs. 700/- in Bangalore.

I just moved away from McAfee to Microsoft Security essentials, and immediately on the first scan, it showed me two virus on my system. Not sure why McAfee never showed those.

Jokes apart, I had a same situation when migrating from McAfee to Avast in my laptop.

I am using Nod 32 since last 1.5 yrs and it works very well, super light on memory resources and hassle free updates.
Truly a very good antivirus , Try it to believe it.

I have used norton, kaspersky, mcaffe, and avast Internet security versions. Avast picked up all of 28 viruses and 4 malwares which others never knew. Updates are silent and the app is lite on the system. Just make sure the settings are password protected. That is the one weak spot where viruses meddle with the app.

Any reviews on Vipre Home Premium? My Win7 PC just got dreaded by some virus.

I had used the trial version, it seemed to eat away very little memory and also was effecient in tracking down some infections.

Any experience here to share folks?

If not the Vipre, which one is the way to go?

I have tried the free version of AVG but didnt find it to be very effective, then I purchased a Norton 2010 but this used to go off without notice.

My kids were using McAfee Internet Security but their laptops still got infected and we had to restore the OS

I am now using Microsoft Security Essentials on all our computers at home, this is a free Anti Virus by Microsoft and it seems to be doing its job.
