Hey Mugen, let me make it more simple for you.

1.Intel core 2 duo E6300 Rs8300 [Alternative is AMD64 X2 3800+ for Rs7400 both r future ready for 64bit applications/softwares.I wont recommedn 6400 as this is just an overclocked version of 6300 and commands some high price premimum.
2.For intel CPU Mobo should be ASUS P5LD2-VM SE Rs4100
for AMD CPU,choose ASUS M2NPV-MX Rs4300 [dont buy with sli feature as u wont be adding 2 video cards.
3.Atleast 1GB DDRRAM2 which should be KINGSTON 1 GB Rs5800
4.You already got HDD.Still if u want to buy then go for seagate 350GB as this seems to be the "sweet spot".To me 250GB is more than enough.[see if u can get 7200.10version]
5.nVidia7600GT is at prsent best bang for buck and will be faithful to u for atleast next 2yr.Look for leadtek and XFX brands as asus gigabyte r expensive by 3-4K. Rs10000-11000
You can also go for cheaper 7600GS for abt 6k if u dont like to play latest games.
6.Ask LBM abt the performance of samsung 19" 940BWS.This is available under 15k so its a better buy than 17".Another good brand is viewsonic.
Look for LCD with response time under 8ms,under 5ms being excellant.
7.DONT OVERLOOK THE PSU as this is equalant to wiring in ICE.For ur configuration,u need atleast 450w[real will be far less unles it is antec].See the specs of PSU and if its 16/18/20A for +12v,u r safe and anyhting under 16A,u will have some issues with ur system's power especially if u plan to add more drives/cards to ur system later.Dont spend <2k for case/PSU.
8.Any Lite-on dvd dual layer writer. Rs 2200

this should be one good configuration though not necessarily kicka$$ one.
I hope i have not added more to ur confusion....

Guys before jumping onto your upgrade one must see what is the utility for ones PC./Notebook.

Is it for:

1. Business/Home Utility ( MS OFFice ,Internet).
2. Entertainment ( Audio ,Video )
3. Hard Core Gaming

For Option One one needs very basic processing and hardware.
Option two can be fulfilled by a better monitor/soundcard/speakers
Option 3 is what will require the best processors,RAM etc.

So one should evaluate the use/VFM before spending insame amts of money.

- How is Intel 945 compared to Asus ?
- I will go for 1 Gb Ram.
- 7600gt is for how much Mb ? Does anyone have latest rate ?
- I will go for LCD, I will decide after some searching about rates.
- Lite On dvd dual layer writer ? Any perticular model number with some links plz..

As far as i know i will not get LCD,Kingston ram and Graphics card, power unit from my city so any suggestions in delhi and bombay where can i best deal ?

Thanks Again..

Usually Asus mobo r considered better than Intel's.

7600GT is 256MB which is enough for this card.Having 512MB 7600GT card is not good decision as this card is not good enough to use 512MB of RAM.

For Lite-on dvd writer,go to Techtree.com: India's Technology Daily and check reviews of lite-on dvd writers.I particularly like SHW165H5 [something like] model.

sk,u r not wrong but for basic home use like surfing old P1 266/333Mz is enough but we dont recommend that.
Requirements should not be the only ONE criteria to buy a system but also it should also be based on money u have for it or combination of both.I will chose the 3rd option if i have to build one system for me now.

Mugen,
Asus, Gigabyte & Microstar MBs are far superior to Intel 945/955/965. The higher end boards in the above 3 brands will offer a lot more features & will be better for future upgrades. just visit the websites of these guys to really see their stuff.

Delhi - Nehru Place
Mumbai - Lamington Road

You have to go around from shop to shop and try to get the best deal though the prices dont vary that much from shop to shop. I usually buy my stuff from one place there, I could get you his number if you want.

Definitely the Intel E6300.

And obviously the 17" LCD. You could even think of a 19" LCD...

dude dude here is were the game plays in all of you guys c the L2 of 2mb and get carried away the matter of fact is that the AMD is value for money reason being that the L1 is of 128 KB + 128 KB and the C2D is just 32kb + 32 KB , the heat sink of the C2D sucks big time and this is tested ,i have kept my hand on the running amd after 30mins and then a c2d also and u can feel the heat. no doubt for once you will no even feel the difference in speed btw the two but on the long run , i mean not long in days n months but in hours you will see that the cooler processor is doing better.

the amd is a HT supporting thing and the C2D aint (why i dont know but intel has the tech on some of its other chips and u feel the difference as u switch to this) .

@200 mph --- I dont know if you are an AMD Fanboy (I was one till C2D released) or an AMD salesman.... but you are bull****ting big time.

Care to give some evidence to support your theory ?? OR are you going to continue blabbing nonsense ??

Hey Guyz!!

Please dont turn this into another AMD-Intel boxing ring. There're plenty of others already dedicated to that on the internet.

This thread is to just post one's computer configurations. So let it be na!!

I know, I'm the not the one to do the dictation here. But it's just because I have had enough of this AMD-INTEL thingy!! And can't stand another of those. So, with all due respect,

BTW, I did a dual monitor setup today. Try it, it's fun!
Now, I have 1 Samsung 753S and 1 Samsung 763DFX connected to Asus Geforce 7300LE!
Now, my desktop suddently became very wide. Now it's possible to run as many possible programs and dont have to switch windows now and then. It's very practical. Like browsing in one monitor and chatting etc.. in other one. You can always browse Team-BHP and also keep an eye on the webcam!!

Check this:
