I would say it had severed you well.Why can't you look in for IFB,the best among the lot.
more reliable in terms of electricity consumption and long life.

Better look in for a front loading one rather than a top loading machine.

The recent IFB washing machines are having issues with regard to the reliability and balancing. Read through the earlier posts in this thread for more details on the minor issues.

Couple of post away I asked about the insuring the appliance against mechanical/electrical faults. Seems like it will help in such cases.

Guys I have an Electrolux Microwave Oven. Last night it started making a loud Krrrr sound which scared us for a while.

I had to switch it off from mains to make the sound go away.

I dont have the manual. Any idea what could be wrong?

I am trying to find a MW Oven mech around my area.

I had a few lond bangs from my LG Microwave a year back. When I talked to the service centre they said forget it - most be some baby cockroaches getting killed. I saw some charring inside but the beast is still working fine. So I guess it must have been just that.

But this was a loud Krrr sound which was more like an electrical sound than something getting charred.

^ check near the doors, if there is any blackening. In my microwave, some paint has chipped of near the door lining, and sometimes this part gets affected by microwaves and makes these krrr sounds with burning smell.

Hmm I haven't checked this, thanks, will check it out.

Had faced it earlier. It was magnetron going kaput. Cost for replacing it was 800.

Sound was similar to what large transformers generate.

Oops yes it sounded that bad, is yours an Electrolux too?

Btw Magnetron is generic word or specificaly used by Electrolux?

We are having a BPL Sanyo Microwave more than 10yrs old it is still going strong. Just had to clean it exhaust vents once as it was choked with dust and grime.

It was LG. Just called LG's toll free and they sent someone next day. They had a Maruti Van full of almost all possible spares for microwave. Cost of 800 included visiting fees.

Magnetron is a generic word. Its actually the "Microwave" part of oven.

Just to let everyone know about my recent washing machine question.

I've Repaired my Whirlpool fully auto-matic machine.

How it went.

while i was mentally prepared to buy a new one this week, I thought of operating my old machine.

I opened the front panel, Took out Logic-Card, and found a few ceramic condenser, a few resistors and a push to ON button gone kaput,
Replaced them, cleaned up the Drain Valve, cleaned up water sensor switch and WOW.

My machine is washing clothes, no Skipping of wash program, no more errors.

So i saved myself from buying a new one of getting repaired it by STUPID engineer, who said card will not be repaired, you'll need to buy a new card and only then we can check what more needs to be replaced.

Total Cost of repair.

Rs.20/- (resistors + L.E.D. + a push to on PCB mount button)
Rs.60 ( Drain pipe from godrej which fits most machines)

and in Rs.80/- I Am ready for all the wash.clap:

That's good news --- I wish I could revive my Bosch so easily but, to be honest, even if I could see any obviously-failed components I know I can't do circuit-board soldering.

(I can manage the red-hot metal stuff, but never was much good at electrical)

Any reviews on a sub 20k, 240-280L two door refrigerator please.

My parents 14 year old BPL has stopped cooling since morning.
If it does not get back online by evening, I need to buy a new fridge.

Found the Samsung RT26Z to be a good choice.
Compare India gives its price at 15k.

Any other suggestions most welcome.
