Basically, the jet needs to be enlarged. We were about to purchase a Faber hob, but the feedback on Amazon said that the company doesnt help / support on this.

When we got PNG, the MNGL technician took care of re-configuring the jet. I haven't faced any issues so far. And yes, I have a Faber hob.

On a side note, look beyond Faber, I have it for 8+ years, and it does not age well. Auto-ignition has failed so many times that I have stopped repairing it, and the switches are not durable either.

Which area in Blr do you stay? For my area at Hulimavu, GAIL said it will take time. I dont see them laying lines here in the near future.

In my parent's home in Mumbai, Mahanagar Gas came home and replaced the nozzles irrespective of the brand of the gas stove. I guess GAIL will do the same thing. Brand need not matter.

+1 for Faber. Ours is older, but the same issues. That's why I asked the question which brands to look for.

JP nagar. The deposit was paid collectively to GAIL agent a few months back. The lines are expected to start piping only by year end.

Mods, pls move to relevant thread (If any, on PNG )

Guys, lately I am very keen on investing in a good air purifier but folks across social media says it just consumes energy there is not much use of it.

Considering how bad NCR's air quality is, I thought why not give this a chance. Any suggestions?

I was also skeptical in the same lines as what you mentioned "it just consumes energy there is not much use".

However, facing severe dust & pollution in my locality, I went ahead and purchased a Honeywell room air purifier {https://amzn.to/2OK9ZYS, https://bit.ly/2z4LgXs} for my home(@ Bangalore) just couple of weeks back.

It claims to have HEPA filters and that it can remove particulate matter/microscopic allergens etc. Cost me 13500/- (white one, after credit card discounts). It has multiple fan speeds and a digital display which shows the air quality - higher the reading, lower the quality. Shows this reading in 3 different colour-codings: red-impure, amber-moderate, blue-tolerable. After running the device for 30min or so, the reading comes down considerably (like from 200+ to within 75). Currently reviewing the item performance, not in a position to conclusively say about the efficacy; though seems it is able to capture dust/impurities in the rooms as the white filter is slowly turning beige-ish.

It is a smallish unit about the size of a large laptop bag, which can purify only one small room at one time - meaning if you want to purify the entire home it'd be needed to be placed in the required room and run again. I'm now running it one hour each for every room in my 2BHK flat. Will keep this thread posted with any useful findings.

Got my IFB washing machine's door switch changed yesterday. It was malfunctioning since last few days. Sometimes causing short circuits, sometimes jamming the door (its a front loader). And many times it would do its job perfectly. Cost was 618/- while the tech guy charged Rs. 300/- as service charges. Total damages Rs. 900/- Machine now back to normal.

GAIL story in Bangalore is of huge delays, they had started supply in certain areas under HSR layout last year. It was promised to us that we too would be getting piped gas by mid 2017. However the same is yet to happen with no proper communication.

Thanks for the extensive detail. I know you are still getting to know the product but can you please help me in answering:

1. Other brands you were considering before you had finalised this product. I heard Philips makes good air purifiers as well.
2. Do you feel difference in the air once it says that it has brought down the pollution content in the room.
3. Is it wall mountable?
4. How effective is this thing with A/C in full swing?

Thanks!

Looking at the product information I see that filter life is about 3000 hours. Did you find out if replacement filters are available easily and how much they cost ?

*A doctor recommended we get an air purifier since there are just too many cases of air borne diseases and bad air quality in Bangalore. When I asked about the effectiveness of these devices he explained his own personal experience with one of the products and it had helped his family by drastically reducing the number of times they were infected with allergies in the last couple of years.

We were thinking of one for our kids' room. Does the room have to be somewhat airtight for this to work well? Unfortunately we are a family which prefers all windows (with net) to be open all the time.

The motor of my breadmaker gave up. As far my knowledge it is a reversible induction motor. Can this type of motor be rewound by a local motor repair guy?

You're welcome, though I haven't been of much help!

1. Other brands considered : Philips, Dr Morepen, Kent. With the brand name, features, positive user reviews etc. was tempted to go with what I chose.
2. Can't say for sure of any visible/perceivable difference in air quality, though I'm relying on the HEPA filter's colour change to gauge the effectiveness. Maybe in the coming days I'll also see the amount of dust accumulating on the fans per week! stupid:
3. Guess it can't be wall mounted, with the weight of ~ 6kgs and no mounting hooks anywhere on the body.
4. I'm staying in a temporary rental home for 6 - 8 months, till the time my new flat gets ready, so haven't mounted the A/C unit; hence can't say about this point. Though I guess this unit won't have any difference in functioning with/without A/C on.

I had a severe bout of allergic rhinitis (hay fever) in the past months; relying on this device to remove the pollens/allergens etc. in the air. Will keep monitoring and update.

What's the best place to buy washing machine plastic covers, washing machine trolleys etc?
