Which Telescope?

Greetings BHPians.

I am on a lookout for a telescope to reignite my passion for astronomy. I am 15 years old but in no way or form am I looking for a beginner telescope.

Requirements -
Brands: Celestron and Orion
Aperture: Not less than 70mm
Focal length: I am looking for higher magnification and a narrower view.
Price: 15k to 40k

In all:
Instead of studying galaxies and all, I prefer studying individual planets and stars up close. Hence, I would want a higher aperture and less focal ratio.

In case you've some important tips for a young astrophysicist aspirant like me, please pm. It would be of great help
Thankyou.

Try joining local groups that organise events. In Mumbai, few groups are quite active (at least were ... before Covid). This used to cost 1000 / 2000 per event, benefits were :
  1. You get to use equipment in real situations (usually fees includes telescopes )
  2. Real experience of waiting through the night to catch something
  3. Peer group and practical knowledge (Like . in Mumbai; one needs to get at least 50 km away to avoid light pollution)

Re: Telescopes & Binoculars anyone?

Looking for a quality 7x40 or 8x50 (or something close to this specification) Binoculars for my son.
What’s the word on this Nikon Prostaff? Open to alternatives.

Yes, this is good beginner set. If its for birding you can also check this one which seems to be on sale-

Thanks for the recommendation. That’s a good model and cheaper than the Nikon. The only catch about it is the relatively shallow eye cup. Also known as eye relief. I wanted something in the 20mm range.
