Viruses that affect your phone won't affect your PC and vice-versa. Antiviruses are not needed as long as you keep bluetooth turned off and don't run any random sis/sisx file on your cell. If you're worried about your phone being a carrier of Windows viruses, your PC will take care of that with its own antivirus.

(19K without the bluetooth) That, I guess, is more a function of being a regular at one store than the store. That store at Road Number 12.

Guys,

I had done the same to my phone and realized it was the biggest mistake I made. There are some very severe glitches in this upgrade. My phone started hanging, shutting down on its own and the worst of all was I could not restore backup to my phone even though it was taken via PC Suite.

The Nokia service centre confirmed there was a issue with the upgrade firmware.

From which version did you upgrade? I am having no problems with this version whatsoever, in fact my phone used to frequently hang in the phonebook earlier. But no problems faced now (touchwood).

Hi,

They re flashed my phone and reinstalled the firmware but no success. I eventually got fed up, sold the phone and bought a Blackberry. They said they have informed Nokia who will come up with another upgrade to solve these issues.Unfortunately you cannot even downgrade the firmware.

Viper

Edit @ Hydra - I could not even restore phone settings, contacts or msgs. Applications was far fetched. Just to inform other I could successfully restore all back up on another E71 which had the earlier firmware.

Folks, while restoring data after a FW upgrade, the best bet is to restore only the data like contacts, calendar, messages etc from the backup. Settings and 3rd party apps are best reinstalled/re-entered manually. This is a drag, but is the best practice, to make sure that the new FW recreates the internal entries related to the 3rd party apps & settings afresh.

This is based on personal experience from FW updates to my E90, and general gyan from the various Symbian forums. Some people even suggest that you hard-reset the phone immediately after the FW update before you do anything else.

If you've updated the FW and are having enough problems to drive you nuts, you can maybe try hard-resetting the phone, reloading the 'data' only and then reinstalling the 3rd party apps & entering the various settings afresh. It might solve things. Since you have the earlier backup with you anyway, nothing (except a bit of time) is lost.

@Hydra: You suggest that i hard reset the phone now? I have a backup of contacts, phone memory, card memory, notes and messages which are important for me. Rest all i can add on like 3rd party software.Just called Nokia Care , they are saying it may be due to corrupted software on my phone. I am confused on what to do. I am not getting my Gmail notifications everytime i get new mail and when i restart the phone i get an application installation error.
