Nokia E71 - TBhpian reviews required!!

My current SE K550i has kicked the bucket, and its time to change my phone.

I saw the Nokia E 71 online and am in love with the phone I had made up my mind that I am going for the phone, but then read some worrying reviews on the net...

Apparently, people are facing Call drops/bad connectivity with this model!

If any T Bhpian has this device, please clear my doubts...

So TBHPians, does your handset have any Voice Clarity / Call Dropping problems?

Hi,

I have been using the E-71 for almost a month now. The phone works well, except for the following:-

1. It seems to reboot about once in 2 days on it's own.
2. The keyboard is a pain to use, as the keys are quite small.

My previous phone was a E90 which failed to boot up one day. I was more comfortable with that, as the keys were quite well spaced.

However, the E-71 works well with all other apps and also has a good battery life of 2 to 3 days.

Hi,

Have been using the E1 for about two weeks now and I my thoughts on it (as compared to the n95) are as follows:

Advantages:

1. Very very fast, the new processor and memory has made this phone really fast in all respects, whether in internet browsing or opening documents or using the programs.

2. Battery is very very good and lasts me about two days with about 1.5 hours of calls, 30 mins of WLAN surfing, 30 mins of mail on Edge and 1 hour of games per day

3. Looks absolutly stunning

4. Shortcut keys are great and almost all the daily used features can be accessed from the main screen, if setup properly

5. Email setup is very very easy like all new nokia phones

6. screen legibilty is good like all new nokia phones

7. Call quality and speakerphone quality is very good, no call drops till date

8 Allows you to bring up names from the home screen, without going into your phone book, with various options like messaging, phone etc.

Disadvantages:

1. Themes are not very nice, and looks like something that was introduced in 2001, but i guess this can be changed with more downloadble themes being available on various sites now

2. Camera is not great at all, and would have preferred something better

3. Keys are a bit small, and takes getting used to

4. Finding software for the new screen size is a bit tough, but not impossible.

Thats my honest feedback on this phone. Overall a great phone and one for power users. I have not faced any abrupt hangs or freezes like I used to on my N95.

Hi

Me has been using E-71 since 3 weeks now.

My feedback:
1. Its a looker. Almost everyone asks about it and wants to touch it. The steel body is quite unique.
2. In 2 weeks, it hasn’t rebooted yet.
3. For my fingers, not thin, the keyboard is fine. Takes all of 10 SMS'es for practise and you are ready.
4. No call drops yet. Voice is clear and loud.
5. Excellent battery. Lasts me close to 3 days.
6. Processor is super fast compared to any other phone I have come across.
7. Nice shortcut keys, very convenient.
8. Email setup etc is super easy.
9. GPS works pretty well.

Negatives:
1. Useless camera.
2. Bad OEM headphones.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Great reviews on the E71 and I am more than convinced about buying it. I am not a very big fan of having a camera on the phones, and am sure that I can live with it.

Have to say that I am not a power phone user and think of it more like a utility. The only phone that I was interested in some days back was the iPhone but then was very disappointed with the pricing and went it to showroom to look for some other phone the very next day of iPhone launch. It was love at first sight with this phone. The phone is quite a looker

Have been using it for few weeks now and so far no issues like rebooting and call drops. Infact I am quite satisfied with the performance of the phone and voice clarity. My rating for the phone will be 4/5.

Hey Abhi,
I have also bought a E71 for me after I sold my 16gig iPhone. I have had no issues whatsoever with call dropping and voice clarity problems.
My guess is if you have installed a lot of 3rd party software .... try uninstalling it and take your E71 for a factory restore (not reset).

Hope that should help. Most dealers / NPD's are not aware that this is the new Symbian OS with better revision than the E90 and so on ....... they will just try and install anything and everything into the phone and find out more than half of it does not work at all. THATS what corrupts most E series phones.

Cheers,
Adit.

I have been using this for more than a month now.
I am really impressed with,
1. Looks - So sleek
2. Build quality - metal body
3. Battery life - Last for more than a day even with Airtel mobile office ON all day
4. Display - sharpness not size
5. Features - Lots of them. Especially connectivity
6. Speed of the processor. Response is so good.
7 Says caller name - You know who is calling as soon as it rings

What I didn't like
1. Keys - Not so easy to use. Soft but cramped
2. Does not have Blackberry connect option - Have to use the "Mail for Exchange", which has limited features

And I think this is the best business phone available today.
Very practical, no gimmicks.
And real VFM.

There are a couple of things that I noticed about the E71 (I use an E61)

1. There is no Blackberry connect support.
2. There is no one touch recording (This is a great feature that they had added in the E51 with unlimited recording)

What is the price you guys are paying - Grey and B&W from Nokia Priority? Best deal I can see so far is Rs. 20,500.
