Here is the list of 'freeware' that I have on my Windows PC.
Quote:
1. Avast! Free Anti-virus
2. Firefox + Chrome.
3. CCleaner.
4. FleshGet & Free Download Manager (FDM).
5. Microsoft Zune Theme + Microsoft ClearType Tune. Believe me this is one combination which makes your monitor easy on eyes.
6. K-Lite Codec Pack which includes Media Player Classic, it plays any media file.
7. Lavasoft Ad-Aware Free.
Personal Experience:
Chrome is faster then Firefox.
Windows Media Player gives the best sound quality among all music players for Windows.

Its possible to copy the favorites files on internet explorer and paste them on the new system. Please help.
I prefer exporting Bookmarks to HTML and then importing this HTML file on another system.

Steps:
1. Click Bookmarks on the menubar and click on 'Organize Bookmarks'. Keyboard Shortcut for this is Ctrl+Shift+B.
2. Step 1 opens a new window. In the top menubar of this window click on 'Import and Backup'.
3. Click on 'Export HTML'. Select the location where you want to save the HTML file. Thats it.

Copy this HTML file to your new system. For importing bookmarks, repeat first 2 steps. Select 'Import HTML' and locate the copied file. and you are done.

Hope that helps.

You are wrong. Winamp is having better sound quality than WMP(in stock).

Absolutely..I agree. Winamp is the best IMHO.

To get the best sound quality do not use DirectSound.

WA sounds better when set to Nullsoft Waveout Output and SPDIF or Speakers. To do this go to Options -->Plugins-->Output, and in the right hand side pane select Nullsoft Waveout Output. You can set options there as well to SPDIF or Speaker. I chose SPDIF as my PC is connected to my amplifier via an optical cable.

2) Winrar - Light and fast file compression utility. Shareware.
3) VLC, WinAMP - Freewares
4) Symantec End point protection - Very good protection if you are always connected to Internet.
5) Notepad++ = Excellent editor, freeware.
6) CCleaner - Freeware.
7) Firefox and Google chrome - As always.
My list is almost similar to funda2max's. Notepad++ ..Can't live without it!

I prefer Avast! as my antivirus and Online Armor as my personal firewall.

I'd suggest anybody looking for a free Firewall, to use Online Armor and stay away from COMODO and ZoneAlarm. COMODO doesn't uninstall perfectly. COMODO has a very tedious learning process. ZoneAlarm is resource intensive and nowhere as versatile as Online Armor.

Currently I'm messing around with Blender and GIMP which seem to be potent open source alternatives for 3d modelling and image manipulation respectively.

Oh and RocketDock for the MAC-esque desktop Dock

Why not use Foxmarks, or now Firefox sync? It can do more than just syncing up your bookmarks.

In any terms let it be stock or with plugins its better than winamp when it comes to sound quality. I agree it looks plain jane but does the work right.

The Chroma browser has an in-build feature similar to X-marks.

Did you meant that the SQ is good for all formats or for any specific format or for ACD ?

The notable good thing about Foobar is it's smaller memory footprint. Anyway, I'm discussing solely about the SQ and not about the other features.
