The screen on the TD2 maybe smaller than on the HD.

Apart from that they should be pretty much the same. If you want a device that easily fits in your pocket then the TD2 is for you.

It is 0.6 inch bigger diagonally, which is not much difference considering they have same resolution. Looks like TD2 is the best option out there for me.

Samurai,

The difference between HD and TD2 are the processors (7201 vs 7200 qualcomm), 3.5 headphone jack vs USB, 30fps vs 15fps video recording and the screen. No other feature differences apart, TD2 is a Great Buy.

Add 12.5% VAT on the Univercell.in prices.

E72 announced - is this the right phone?

Nokia announced their new E72 to be released in the last quarter of 2009 with the specs:

2.36 inch TFT screen with 16M colours.
600 MHz processor
150MB RAM,
Symbian OS 9.3
250MB internal memory,
16GB MicroSD card slot,
GPRS @ 100 Kbps,
EDGE @ 296 kbps,
GPS = A-GPS Support and Nokia Maps 3.0 & digital compass,
Li-po 1500 mAH battery,
5 MP camera,
+ all the usual goodies like a stereo FM radio, player, document editor etc.

This sounds like a tempting package as the processor is faster and the RAM is more, the supported GPRS and EDGE speeds are also much higher than what the E71 has on offer. I presently have an E50 and use my phone basically as a phone - i.e. to talk. I do browse a bit but not extensively, this is mainly because browsing is so slooooow on the present phone. The camera comes in useful sometimes and am seriously planning on buying a GPS device.

I need to replace my trusty old E50 and had almost set out to buy an E71 till I read about the E72 here. I can afford to wait for a few months. My questions are:

Is it worth waiting for the E72? Should I buy a E71 at the discounted prices that are bound to kick in once the E72 is ready for despatch? What is the expected pricing of the E72?

Thanks in advance and cheers,

The E72 is good especially with the touch enabled navigation key movement. However, if you do require a QWERTY business phone, the BlackBerry comes out on top.

If GPS is important to you, then don't get a Berry.

BlackBerry is pretty bad in terms of GPS Navigation in India.

Garmin does not work well on it and viaGPS (mapmyinida) does not have a version for Blackberry.

The screen size at 2.36 inches is very very small for anything web. You will keep on scrolling to find the information you want to see.

If you are planning to make your phone do double duty as a GPS navigator too, I'd advise you give windows mobile phones a serious thought.

You can easily get phones with 528, 624 or even 800(!!!)mhz processors, over 250mb ram and much larger screens from HTC, Asus and others.

Mapmyindia offers brilliant maps and software, and while they do offer a version for symbian devices, I don't think it's as capable as the one you get on windows mobile.

PS: Do you walk when you talk??

Ravvs, N72 indeed looks nice but only difference from N71 is 5MP camera, GPS and no 3G? My guess is it will be priced around 27K or so. The best part of this phone is the fast processor ( 600mhz) which is almost equivalent to my Bold ( 625Mhz) and you can practically see the difference how fast applications open up.

If you dont intend to use a lot of apps and not too keen on GPS then go with E71, it is a pretty good phone and has almost all the features that you would need and as you rightly said after N72 release it will drop from its current 18k price too.

If you ask me, go for a blackberry ( BB 8900, which comes in your budget too) and you will never revert to a windows phone again

Im confused as to what you're saying.

Both the E71 AND E72 have 3G as well as GPS.

The E72 also supports the HSDPA 10.2mbps protocol.

Please see my post announcing the E72 + picture and feature overview(/comparison with e71) here :

Windows Mobile OS doesn't support touch screen. So HTCs, Samsungs - in their quest to design the 'iPhone killer' - have come up with their own custom hacks such as TouchFlo or TouchWiz to support touch functionality. Though these hacks are laudable & quite good, it still falls short of camouflaging the bland OS underneath - hence suffer in user resposiveness.

What you need is iPhone 3GS, which will be out in India in few days.

2003? couldn't be WM5 then. Probably WM 2003.

I think, multi-touch is what seems to have been referred here.

may be, i don't have it with me right now. I think I had tried to update to WM5 or something like that later...haven't used it in ages.

so what i meant was even WM-2003 had touch interface. I guess he meant multi touch.

diabloo, so you suggest I spend 20k more than TD2 on iPhone 3GS just to get true touchscreen, while I have already indicated I am very happy with HTC/WinMob combo which I already have in HTC touch.

In head-to-head comparison, TD2 has better scores than iPhone.
