Samsung Wave! WOW! Slick/think/what-a-screen/what-a-camera! Used it for few hours. Its pretty fast too. The sound from the single speaker on top was pretty loud too.

Only if they had some easy to use/free navigation software.

Yes its an incredible phone but the only thing that stops me from buying it is the Samsung support. Their after sales support in terms of software upgrades is poor. They are bringing out a new device almost every second day with half baked software but top notch hardware and the pace is so fast that a device launched just 6 months back is forgotten just like that.

I would have bought the Wave in a heartbeat if only Samsung concentrated more on software rather than just hardware. I am not too sure how long are they going to pursue Bada and I dont think that its going to be as polished as the iphone OS.

I might get myself an iphone 4 pretty soon. My sparingly used iphone 3gs 16 gb will be on sale pretty soon. Watch out!

I picked up Samsung Wave yesterday for 17.5K.

The phone is simply WOW. Samsung really has got all the hardware spot on. The screen is amazing. The phone is slim and very well built and is a looker as well. The touch interface is second to none and watching movies/listening music on it is simply fantastic. Clicked a few pics on the phone's camera and the camera quality is also good.

IMO for this price NOTHING in the market even comes close.

Hey Nokia touch Screen owners, do we have any other method to lock/unlock the screen than by using the slider key in the sides???

Any software based lock?

Did you buy this in the market or online? I have been trying to get this phone for the past few days, but i couldn't find it anywhere. Even Samsung's own site hasn't been updated with this phone yet :( .

I bought it in the market. Even I was waiting for ages for it to arrive and had checked Samsung India's website lots of times to get any news on its launch. So I can understand exactly how you are feeling right now. At one point I was even tempted to order it online from UK merchants. Good that I did not succumb to that temptation.

Coming back to its availability. I went to a shopping mall (in Gurgaon) last Saturday to purchase it. The mall had 3 cellphone shops and to my surprise all 3 had the handset! All dealers did mention that very limited stocks have been released. I have a few friends in Mumbai and they too want to purchase Wave but can't get their hands on one. So availability does seem to be an issue in some places.

However having got my hands on one I can say that your wait will be well worth it. It's a terrific phone. I do hope that you get yours soon.

I also am using the same number for last 4 years, you just have to replace the SIM , your number wont change.

Aman, Vodafone charged me 50 bucks, and I am going to fight it. It should have been free. They charged a prepaid customer 25/- for SIM replacement. SO why should the postpaid customer pay double of it.

I finally found an online store where i can buy the Samsung Wave and they are offering it for 17700/- and free shipping. I wanted to know if anyone has used Let's Buy before and how reliable they are . I know it is a reputed brand, but wanted to hear from people who have used them before.

How do I 'STOP' the alarm on a 5800 when its locked. Everytime I do this, it goes to snooze.

I did not buy the Wave.

I called Sangeetha in Bangalore, they said that though it has been launched, the stocks are extremely limited. They expect to have it in stock by the end of the month.

It is one sweet phone going by the specs. The number of third-party apps for it may be limited currently, but I think that once Samsung gets a few million of these out(they have priced it this low purely to seed the market), it will be too good a market for the developers to ignore. I expect to see the number of apps increase dramatically in the coming months.

The only area of some concern for me is Samsung's support by issuing future firmware updates etc. That said, the Wave runs on fairly advanced hardware, which means that Samsung should be able to use this for quite a while by simply tweaking the variables like screen size etc. If that is the case, we should see firmware updates on a regular basis.

Yeah I had the same concern about this. But thankfully, unlike the Omnia HD, there don't seem to be any major issues with the interface so far and since this is Samsung's own OS and not Symbian, they should be putting out updates regularly. After all, they have bet a lot on their own OS and this is the first device on this platform and the hardware should stand the test of time for a while. I'm still undecided if i should go ahead and buy it from Letsbuy or wait till it shows up in my local retail stores. I'll have to check with Univercell or The Mobile Store today.

I think you could buy a Blackberry Storm 9530 which costs around 18K or a Nokia E72 that costs around 17K or even a Nokia N96.
If you prefer a Windows Mobile based handset, I think you could buy a Samsung Omnia Pro which comes with a keypad and costs less than your current budget. I think you could also find some Windows based HTC phones for that price range ( not sure of the HTC Touch 2 is on sale now ).
