Can you kindly let me know the price you paid?

The hardware looks good for the price point, but I wonder why Sony is not releasing a ICS upgrade for this model.

Hi,

Got it for 14400 + 250 (card swipe charge :Frustrati) for the phone + 8GB sd card + screen guard + silicon pouch

I bought the Sola 6 months back at around 18,000. I guess the price is dropped now due to poor sales of this model.

Personally I have been very unhappy with it. The hardware does not reflect on performance. It feels slow and laggy on a regular basis. The battery struggles to last a day even with minimal usage. The battery drops 15-20% overnight with the phone not being touched and data/wifi/sync all disabled.

Some people seem to have had a very good experience with the phone. So hope your experience is better than mine. And at ~14K it is probably worth it.

Note: There is an ICS upgrade available for this. You should see it if you connect it to a PC via the PC companion. My problems in general worsened after the ICS upgrade.

As of now no issues, let us see how it goes. This my first andriod phone, I am not planning to upgrade it to ICS as you pointed out, the phone does have issues after the upgrade.

The 9700 is really good hardware for me and I'm afraid I will not be able to settle now with the current touchscreen fad. Any particular way or part that I can swap to fix this issue?

I think this should be fixable - mostly the internal antenna needs to be changed.

If you have not tried it already, try posting this same question here - http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/gadget...india-283.html
You may get more information.

Yes and she is very happy with it too because it has a physical keyboard as well as the touch keyboard. Good buy overall we think.

Shankar/Others,
A friend is trying to decide between Asha 311 & 303. Any feedback on how these phones are, or any Asha (series) phone. Please do provide your inputs.

Update: Got the Nokia Asha 311 for my mom. Weighed up between 300 and 311, and took a gamble to migrate her from regular key pad phone. This is her first attempt into touchscreen phone and the switch was quite seamless, thanks to the simple user interface. The 3.2MP camera is quite average, but otherwise a good buy for someone who is moving into the touchscreen space. And the screen size is decent enough for her to check
some pics on FB using the home WIFI.

Thanks Shankar!

Any one has bought MMX A110, Xolo A700, or iball Andi 4.5h?? Many people here are waiting for the real story about them including me.

There are a number of A110 users here on the forum, all of them satisfied with what the phone can do and still cost less than 5 digits (well, only just :D). The 512 MB RAM is certainly could be a downer when it comes to multitasking, but I've seen it run Whatsapp, Chrome and play music (side note:stock earphones are no good) without any significant lag. Add Temple Run and another couple of apps running in the background and the phone could quickly lose steam. The resolution (480*854) is on the lower side compared to most phones which pretty much start at qHD resolution today, but it does it's job well. Battery life lasts even 4 days (without 3G; low Wifi usage), but really, battery life depends on your usage.

I would say that it is a great performer for it's price, especially when compared to its peers in the 10K bracker - the Desire C, Tipo , Ace etc.

Sitting on the fence with 3 shortlisted phones:

1. iBall Andi 4.5H - Around 12K
2. Lenovo P700i - Around 10.5K
3. Spice Stellar Virtuoso - Around 10K

I am not finding enough reviews for these phones to take the plunge. Anybody here with any of these phones?

Folks, is screen protector required for "Gorilla" glass?

I did buy a protector from "homeshop" just that i messed up while applying, resulting in lots of air bubbles and fingerprints. however i was happy with the quality of the product. just that wanted to confirm if it was really required before i picked another one..

also any idea about the quality of the "protector" which is available in the local mobile shops?

Seems like the HTC butterfly is launching for 44k. HTC is really retarded with their pricing..

My wifey is now looking for a phone as she is really bored of a keypad phone-

The main criterion from the high command is -
  1. Touch phone
  2. 4.5 inch screen and above
  3. 7 MP camera or above
All these are a must with no deviation allowed:rules:

She is in sight of a Galaxy S2, One X+ types :Frustrati

But I am looking at MMX 110, Xolo, A21 types due to the budget.

Please suggest the best option among these ones given the budget around 12k.

Yesterday evening I have visited the Xolo dealer in our area, and I was totaly amazed by the quality and looks of Xolo A700.

It is very slim and light weight phone compare to Andi 4.5h with 4.5 qhd screen with 245 pixel density. I was convinced to buy that one only. The only concern were the call quality and signal reception as I have not used any of the so called Chinese phones till date. SR was telling that Xolo is best amongst the MMX and Karbonn, he has not received a single complaing about the phone.

I have been using my samsung galaxy S2 now for almost 2 years without any protective cover for the screen or the body. No scratches at all on the glass. So I would not recommend any for gorilla glass on your phone too.

Does anyone have any idea when the Lumia 620 is coming out. Seems the most vfm proposition coming out now. Anyway I drop my phone a lot so I don't want any phone which costs more than 12-13k.

What does she use her phone for? One X doesnt have an SD card so she wont be able to add to a photo or music collection.

Thanks Doc, have decided not to buy the second "protector". even if i do in course of months the protector wud have developed several scratches and gradually would have got used to to a hazy display. at the end i would have scratch-less display maybe but the experience would have taken the hit...
