Treated myself to Nexus 5x 32 gb yesterday. Google imprint is insanely fast. Was skeptical about 2gb RAM but must say google has done wonderful job here. Material is very good. The discounts and Hdfc scheme made it a very sweet deal. All in all happy Nexus owner.

Just curious, I couldn't find the 32 GB version on Amazon. Where did you purchase the device with HDFC scheme?

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Just booked Alcatel Flash 2 (2gb ram, Media Tek octa core processor, 16 gb ram, expandable upto 128 gb, 5" HD IPS screen, 13 mp & 5 mp cam with flash) for Rs. 9299. The specifications are impressive, the company is reputed (perhaps its second foray in mobile phone market) but how good is the phone.

Basically I want an affordable phone with good camera.

Why didn't you wait for upcoming Coolpad model on Amazon which will come with fingerprint sensor, similar specs and price tag?

Thanks. Just checked the site. With 3 gb RAM it looks promising. But at 5.5" seems a tad bigger.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

I am a bit technically challenged and need some assistance. Planning to move away from my 5 year old blackberry with QWERTY keypad (which I am still in love with) to a new generation phone - 4G. My important requirements are:
  1. As much latest in technology as possible.
  2. Limited usage
    1. 10 to 15 calls incoming/outgoing calls a day
    2. 10 email accounts, so a lot of emails
    3. minimum apps for installation/usage: Ola, taxi4sure, flipkart, amazon, zomato, bookmyshow and not really much more
    4. a couple of banks provided apps for checking up on accounts
    5. internet includes google search & espncricinfo only
    6. google maps for navigation
    7. no whatsapp, no facebook or any other social media.
    8. don't really want it for watching movies/youtube etc.
    9. storage would probably be used for downloading/storing old hindi film songs which I would then connect to my car music system for playing.
  3. use it as an alarm for waking up.
  4. Near zero use of camera.
  5. small is good, don't really require a large screen
  6. qwerty is highly preferred (not a must), touch screen will probably mean a big size phone.
  7. has to look neat/compact, professional and very business type. Am a bit brand conscious (not really the micromax, lava type)(should be ok with panasonic, lenovo type)
  8. therefore prefer black / platinum or some such darker color.
  9. Would like to keep price range in between the 8k - 15k (not really wanting to pay much more than this) range.
  10. Hate it if the phone overheats with this kind of usage.
  11. Usually near a charging source. In any case battery usage is quite limited and so not a big worry, however to have a larger capacity battery gives me a lot of comfort.
Any suggestions?

I would recommend expanding your budget a little more for an outstanding camera. InFocus M530
http://nothinggeek.com/infocus-m530-...est-front-cam/
http://www.snapdeal.com/offers/infocus-m530

Used it a bit in person, seemed quite nice. Do check. Reviews on SD are very positive.

That's quite a list of requirements you've got there.

Considering these, you should buy a used Blackberry Passport or something.
Otherwise, the only phone which could meet most of those criteria is the Moto G (3rd Gen).
Although, I don't think it may satisfy your professional and business look requirement.

He mentioned the 32gb option on Nexus 5x and not the Nexus 5. Hence my question.

It's available in stores. I bought from a local mobile store. Amazon has only 16gb. Local stores have only 32gb. HDFC scheme valid on Pine labs swiping machine.

Re: The Mobile Phone Thread - Queries, decisions, discussions all here

Ok, currently, I am going through this phase In my life, where I am utterly confused about which smartphone or Tablet(with calling feature to buy). No i am not the Apple guy. So here is the story. I went to an Asus store to enquire about the new Asus Zenfone 2 Selfie. Flipkart is showing INR 17999/-. With 3Gb RAM etc. But this guy in the store tells me 20000/-. I was like ... What? Why the price difference? This guy then says "we are not associated with any products in Flipkart. May be they are selling re-furbished product." That was a mood dampener.

So here is the question, can anyone provide me with any answer to this situation? Is this possible?

BTW, eyeing for the Lenovo Yoga Tab3.

The answer is simple. Shops sabotage online sales because online websites have ruined their sales.
Just buy stuff online. Eyes closed.
Flipkart DOES NOT sell refurbished stuff unless the seller is rogue.

Buy the Asus. Or clamour for an oneplus 2 or a oneplus x.

Hi there!

Been thinking about replacing my wife's Xolo Q3000 this festival season. No issues with phone as such since 1 year 10 months, however, the inbuilt memory available is only 1 GB despite the phone saying 16 GB. This is from day one, only that it has started to become a hindrance now since Facebook, Whats App, etc. don't put stuff on external SD card. Also, she is unable to install most of the Apps for want to space on the internal drive. The phone runs on Kitkat.

Now, coming to options - I would have straight away gifted her the Moto Style, but the 32 GB variant is out of stock. I am more inclined on the 32 GB variant than the 16 GB.

Following are the main requirements -

1. 5.5 / 5.7 inches, Full HD with a minimum of 441 PPI . I use an HTC E8 having similar PPI and feel that is decent enough. The current Xolo is 5.5 inches, so anything less won't work out I believe.

2. She uses a single Sim, but recently we added a BSNL Sim as a backup to her phone as well, since all rural areas do have BSNL if not Airtel, Vodafone, etc. We have felt this need multiple times on Google Maps while traveling. So yes, dual Sim is preferred, would be best if both can run 4G - the reason being - the phone would definitely be used for at least 3.5 years, so I only expect 4G to be the norm.

3. Minimum 3 GB RAM.

4. Qualcomm Snapdragon preferred, but MediaTek Octa Core is also okay.

5. At least 3200 mAh battery.

6. Expandable memory slot.

7. Good or better GPS capability

8. Atleast decent camera

Brand wise, I am okay, anything works, except Micro max (personal choice), but the less bloatware, the better. The phone will *not* be rooted mostly.

Max. budget is between 25 to 30k, and I can extend it only if the Moto Style, 32 gb, is back in Stock.

One humble request - please suggest only based on First hand experience or anyone in the family. I have already had enough of Google for this!

Thank you!

@Safety is Param - the Mi4i checks all the boxes except the screen size. I have the Xolo Q3000 and got the Mi3. And it is brilliant. (Just can't remember if the Mi4i has expendable memory
