Congratulations on your new purchase!
It's indeed a great decision. I've been using a macbook air since 2015. It's been 9+ years now with zero issues. I bought it while i was on a official trip to Japan.

You indeed got a great deal ! But, how’s being lightweight a Con? It was one of my requirements while shortlisting a mac

Also, in Mac keyboard settings you can remap CTRL key to function like control key in windows. Basically swap the functions of CTRL and COMMAND keys.

Pro tip : Multi finger gestures are super useful and intuitive once you get the hang of it. Enjoy!

The lightweight, while a pro, is also a con, because, from my experience with it, I have a record of taking it to school, for 6 days in a row, without knowing it

But a very note-worthy feature indeed!

Overall, I love the design, the light weight and the battery life!
So, Apple, a message to you, You have officially gotten a recommendation about the MacBook Air 13, From a 12-year-old.
I thought a million times whether to get M1 Mac (seeing the huge discounts) but never had the final decision.
I hope your review will help now.
Time to discuss again with my 17 yr old son.

Re: iBhp - Think Different (Team-BHPians on a Mac)

It's been a year of using it and I'll never recommend it to a real Windows user. It makes simple tasks like connecting a android phone for backup or transferring files from hard drives a nightmare. Add to it the iCloud and measly storage for media and its viewing interface. Photos can't be just viewed off from hard drives - you have to eat up into the measly storage. Partitioning drives is non existent and organising in the Finder is such a drag - you keep dragging and dropping. The Delete functions as a backspace and you have to use the Fn key combo, for it to function normally! To work like Windows you are asked to install something called Parallels or something. Numbers = Excel but is very unequal and similarly Papers = Word, but remember to Export(Save as) to doc format else it will act funny in your office PC. same goes for Keynote unequal to PowerPoint. It is so template bound that it forces you to use available formats.

The pros: I've been using iTunes for over a decade on Windows, so that works the same, Battery is amazing, it's lightweight- yes, and browsing is pretty good. Sound quality for personal listening are also great though not for loud listening.

So that is what it is used for - browsing, banking, music and document storage. Keeping fingers crossed as everyone says it's reliable. I'm not big on gaming or softwares so haven't had to face the copyright issues typical to iOS.

Well all the best, but I guess to love it, you need to dive deep into the Apple ecosystem and that is their game- Eve did take a bite of the Apple and nothing was the same after

Re: iBhp - Think Different (Team-BHPians on a Mac)

I'm basically a Windows guy, and here's how my brilliant money-saving plan went:

To avoid the Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom subscription fees, I wisely bought ON1—because it's a one-time purchase!
Then I realized my i5 Thinkpad takes more than 15 minutes to process a single click on ON1. It's super CPU-intensive since it runs AI locally.

So, to make this budget-friendly software actually usable, I did the "logical" thing—I bought a MacBook Pro with an M4 Pro chip and upgraded it to 48GB of RAM for a modest $2.7k USD.
Now ON1 runs buttery smooth!
What an amazing way to save money!

Only to discover that so many things I took for granted in Windows are just... not there on macOS.

For example:
👉 Try cutting and pasting a large, custom-selected group of files from one folder to another. Good luck with that! Maybe I'll get used to it... eventually.
Or maybe this is Apple's way of telling me I should've just kept my Photoshop subscription.

For cutting and pasting large files from one folder to another use Dropover, it works excellent and also try CommandX to cut paste like windows

In MacOS, cutting and pasting doesn't work exactly like Windows. While cutting is similar (Cmd+X), for paste, you should use Cmd+Option+V.

If you just use Cmd+V, it copies the files only.
